I think this is going to vary hugely depending on a huge number of factors. If you're targetting a relatively un-competitive niche, then you're going to see results quicker than you will do if you're targetting the term "poker bonus" for example.

If you're looking for a number though, I'd suggest you don't expect to see anything for around six months. And even then, it's not going to be a huge amount ... but it is a big kick seeing that first sale come in

Basically you need to be patient, but if you've got a good site with quality content, you'll end up seeing sales a lot sooner

These are very, very general questions so you're only going to be able to get very, very general answers.

    Method: Building a content website.
Traffic: Should see something decent within the first few weeks. 10 visits/day after a month maybe.
Money: Most affiliates see something worth noting around 6 months. Like a first CPA or whatever.
    Visitors/CPA: Between 10/1 and 2,000/1.

It always depends on how much work I put into a website. If I write 5 pages a day, 5 days a week, then in a month, I have a 100 page website. With a 100 page website that's well-optimized, you ought to be able to see some results after the 2nd month. But I have a different approach than a lot of folks. I'd rather write content than build links. I suppose you could launch a 10 page site and spend 5 days a week begging for links and see results too, but even then, you're not going to see the same kind of results you'd see from a heavily content-driven strategy. Mostly because you're not going to rank for as many keyword phrases. (100 pages X 1000 words per page = 100,000 words. Unless you use the same words all the time and over and over again, you should get traffic from all kinds of bizarre phrases that never even occurred to you.)

When i was a total noob i think it took around a year before my extremly crappy website gave me a sign up.
I did some ok successful flyer marketing for partypoker though, that i put in appartment buildings etc.
I would walk around for hours putting up these bastards, but they gave me my first 20 signups or so :-D
    Good fun

It makes me happy to hear that Randy. I just started my first site almost a week ago and when I made my decision it was between doing a mini site or doing a strategy big content site. I decided that the more long tail key words that I hit with my TONS of content would probably =$$ faster than competing for huge keywords that I would never win. Plus, since I am a content writer building a large content site is right up my alley. Good info guys.

    Hey

I'll have a crack at explaining why this is difficult to answer, by creating 2 totally imaginary webmasters, describing their different approaches and sites - and then estimating where they will be in 6 months time...

Webmaster A: Puts together a shoddy banner-farm, with lots of broken links, blantently stolen content and no thought into what any reader might find useful - or even coherent theme or focus. Instead of learning from people already in the business who are actually happy to give information and tips to anyone courteous enough to take the time to learn how to approach them, webmaster A chooses to ask open and vaugely worded questions on business forums. Instead of taking the time to find out how this community interacts, our webmaster A then monitors his own vague threads and jumps back in whenever someone even mildly disagrees with him. In other words, our completely imaginary webmaster A does not listen, does not try to create a quality website and lacks the business acumen to listen first and question later...

Webmaster B: This webmaster may lack experience in the poker business, but considers himself (or herself!) fortunate to have discovered the excellent resource called PAL in which people network and give help openly and freely. Webmaster B reads, soaks up information and comes to the conclusion that in order to succeed in the poker business he is going to have to offer value to his visitors in the form of quality content and / or information. He learns that there are several different areas of the poker business, and that a good starting point is to choose one specific area and create a quality resource, which will be valued enough for people to link to it in addition to his own SEO efforts. Webmaster B takes the time create one piece of top-quality content each day while he learns the ropes, and is soon ranking for the keywords he researched in his niche and (importantly) is offering visitors who find his site through these keywords a good enough experience that they return and spread the word. Webmaster B also takes the time to approach other members of the community in a professional manner, learns from anyone correcting his views or questions in posts and has this built respect and a network of people who are willing to help with any problems.

So, there are my two imaginary webmasters... should now be fairly clear why asking about expectation after 6 months could easily be answered with 'It depends'... however in to answer the original question here is my estimate:

Webmaster A; Will have made about $2,000 after 6-months, the only problem being that we only got to hear of it due to a long post filled with swearing that 'Poker Site X Ripped Me Off And Will Not Pay!', it usually turns out that most of the CPAs came from the same IP block when this happens...

Webmaster B: Might only have made $1,000 in his 6th month... however, this guy now has a solid platform, business knowledge and a network of people to count on... and is heading for his first $5k a month by the end of the year.

Hey ho, its just a story I made up... best get back to work!

If you try using social bookmarking you can see some good rankings pretty fast.

    Default my site

Well, this is not a new question here, I think I posted something like this a
    while ago as well...

My site is up close to a year now and I have seen only 2 signups and no depositing players yet...I have still things to finish in the site and add, I hope after this things will get better - Bear in mind this is a PR = 3 site and yet it does not guarantee me depositors as you might see...

Good content, good keywords and a good site with some originality, this is what you need. Learn from the pros here and best of luck...

    Have a great day.

    Nir...
