    Default Building links?

So the thing I suck at the most in this affiliate world is gaining links and link building. I can create great looking sites, add content til my fingers fall off, promote the content, etc... But for some reason I just haven't quite mastered the art of link building.

So my question is where do you guys even begin? I mean do I just start picking and choosing sites to do an exchange with and growing a few here or there? Do I hire someone to do mass link building? Honestly I'm not even referring to some of my gaming sites. I have some very established and content rich celebrity/sports sites that have like 1 backlink in Google. And these sites have been around for years. How do I begin building these links?

Might be a dumb/basic question but I would love some of your input on this subject.

    Thanks!
    Knup

    Hi Knup,

You can either buy links (check out Text-Link-ads.com) or do the link building manually. Make a list of the sites from your niche or verticals (like celebrity and sports related sites), I use a Link Assistant tool from Link-assistant.com to do this research, here's the URL: LinkAssistant SEO tool - the most effective SEO software. Then, start contacting them and ask for a link exchange or article exchange. Do not do reciprocal link exchanges, they are considered bad practice by google. Always do a 3 way link exchange. Example, ask for a link from the site A to your poker/gaming site and offer a link to the site A back from your celebrity site. Ask for contextual links, in the content of an article, post or review, do not ask for the site-wide links (these links do not look natural). Link building is time consuming but when you do it yourself you can control the content your link appears on. I can link to your site from any post at OnlineBestBets.com in exchange for a link back from some of your sports or celebrity sites. Let me know if there's any interest. Thanks, Alex

Depends on your site and what your time/budget is.

If you have the time to do it yourself, then researching and building links yourself isn't that hard to do. Plus, if you were to later hire someone, you'd probably want to know you aren't getting ripped off.

Semmys.org had some good articles/blogs that you might find useful on link building.

I recently asked for a link exchange with a massive site. I have a great niche site I wanted to swap links on with their page on the topic.

They wanted to give me a link from another crappy site they owned in return because their big site had pr3 and mine was pr2.

    When will people learn?

You actually get a response when you ask a big site?

This is a good question and something I'm useless at also!

Is it worth having a links page and just asking any half decent poker site to do an exchange?

On the links page, a paragraph for each site your linking to with some descriptions etc would be best?

I'm always amazed how close-knit the poker affiliate community is when is comes to online marketing tactics.

In the huge affiliate marketing world outside of poker, everyone knows how to get massive links to their sites.

We debate all night long about how to get massive backlinks and Google love.

Because you gotta have it these days to make money.

    Check out these sites:

SeNuke is probably the hottest link building software out there right now.

It automates social bookmarking, RSS feed submission, Web 2.0, article marketing and is pretty cool. I'm a fairly new user of SeNuke but I tell you... it rocks for increasing traffic in any niche.

Just don't over do it..... slow and steady link building looks natural to the search engines.

Brute Force is similar but more expense.

If you can't afford these membership sites then I highly recommend:

Incansoft | Experience The Difference Today!

I use these Bot's all the time with good results:

SocialBot V4.0 | Quickly Bookmark ALL Of Your Website's Pages Automatically (Without Doing It Page By Page) With SocialBot

RSSBot | Traffic Mania RSSBot - Easily Submit Your RSS Feeds To Major Online Aggregators On Auto Pilot!

GFX Video Writer | Seamlessly Convert Your Article Content Into Videos For More Traffic From All Of The Video Directories

There is a ton of ways to get good links to your site besides link exchanges.

Jeremy's Poker Affiliate Listings Forum is without a doubt the best place on the net for poker affiliates to hang out and exchange ideas but sometimes you have to leave here to find information on brutal affiliate tactics.

Affiliate marketing is general has become brutally competitive in the last few years.

And like it .... or not ... you guys are in one of the most brutal of all niches.

You can't just build a great looking, informative poker site like MTT Strategy | Poker Tips & Tricks | Poker Competitions | Best Poker Bonuses that gets 150 visitors a day and expect to make a lot of money.

3 or 4 years ago MoseBet would have done very well.

But today in 2010 you have to be BRUTAL in your online marketing and use every trick in the book.

I'm not saying you have to be be unethical.

But you MUST create MASSIVE great content, get massive backlinks, think outside the box, create your own products or paid membership content.

You can't just do what everyone else is doing.

Your piece of the pie will be too small to be worth all your efforts.

    Dave
