Default Introducing myself and my website

Hi all I've been running a pub poker league in my local area for the past year or so. I've always had a website for it to display the scores but never really done much with it in terms of promoting it outside of the people that play in my pub league.

Well now I've tweaked my system to replicate it into operating in the online world and am taking much more of an interest into marketing it online. I know very basic HTML and little things like how to align a php plugin to display an icon on the right side of the page are a huge frustration to me. But there are bigger things to be getting on with and moving that icon probably isn't going to make me any extra £'s. But sometimes it seems like such a simple task and it's frustrating being unable to perform it.

    Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked.

I began by finding the marvelous PokerAffiliateBible.com website and have found my way to here. I've been reading lots over the past few weeks/months from links mainly spawning from links from PAB, and have been making adjustments to my site.

If anyone would like to give me their brutally honest opinions I'd love to hear them. My website is Pistol Poker League.

The concept of my website is that I will create a private league for a group of 5 or more people who will play in a weekly €10+1 tournament and score points for participating. After four weeks all the points will be totalled up and and the top 25% from each group (miniumum of 3) go through to a freeroll.

At the freeroll €110 worth of coupons will be awarded among the top 9 players. This will be an ongoing league with no break in play. There will be 13 freerolls every year.

Private tournaments will be hosted at Fortune Poker and I am also looking to provide private leagues for already established communities to participate in. If you are the owner of an online community then I would love to speak with you and hopefully strike up a deal that is beneficial to the both of us (sub-affiliate).

From reading briefly on here and grasping other people's opinions I gather that this site is to be a wealth of information to me. I hope to receive a warm welcome and to be swimming with the big boys by this time next week ok a month ..........

Thanks pomp. I've been taking a look at your pokerpeople link from your signiture and see you have a forum. Have you ever considered operating a weekly poker league for your community?

I can take all the hastle of arranging the tournaments, prize giving and score keeping away from you and you can still earn the full revenue share that Fortune Poker offer their new affiliates.

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply. I've been crazy busy lately and had a bit of time off last weekend when my partner accepted my proposal of marriage. I guess I can call her my fiancee now

I'm back on it now though. If you like the sound of strengthening your community and making some extra revenue at the same time give me a tinkle and I'll send you more info on how to get started.

To be honest I think your site needs a lot of work. Perhaps start with a much better theme?

I now live in Blackpool and I was thinking about setting up either poker nights or even poker weekends in hotels.

    PM me.

Ok Pomp no bother. Keep us in mind though. In time hopefully Pistol Poker will be operating the best online poker leagues around and we firmly believe we can be a benefit to any social community.

I think the theme looks great and with the amount of time that I have spent on styling the blog and the forum to match the website's theme this suggestion doesn't jump out at me as something I want to get started on.

But I do thank you for your comments. I am seeking them all good or bad. Perhaps you could tell me why you don't like my theme and what type of thing you believe would work better?

With regards to your suggestion of poker nights in hotels, if you have anything further you would like to put to me please feel free to PM me.

Hi ak, thanks for your kind words.

I have not been actively seeking link exchanges, although I did receive a link on the website of the person who I signed up under his sub affiliate link today.

How do you go about approaching people for link exchanges.

I received a request for a recipricol link exchange via email recently, but I didn't like the website so I ignored it.

It seems cheeky to approach people in this way and I couldn't imagine it being that effective. How would you suggest I approach this?

EDIT: Hmmm I replied to pomp and ramchip yesterday and the post said it was going through for moderation. I'm suprised this post has automatically been posted before it.

2nd EDIT: FAO Ramchip and Pomp - My previous posts have been approved now and have come through twice. Please look back a few posts if you haven't read them already.
