Default Target One Site of Multiple Offers?

    Hi PAL Community,

I recented bought a website which ranks really well for doyles room rakeback. Currently it is just a standard PAS rakeback site.

    My questions are:

-Should I target this site just for doyles room rakeback? (i.e. remove all other rakeback offers such as full tilt poker).
-Should I remove as much evidence as possible that the site is just another standard PAS template (possibly even design a fresh website?)

    Thanks for any input

    Mike

"-Should I target this site just for doyles room rakeback? (i.e. remove all other rakeback offers such as full tilt poker)."
I'd say focus on promoting doyles room on it to start. No need to remove any content unless it is crap (you said you purchased it)...and even if it is crap you might still keep it up to keep the site full.

"Should I remove as much evidence as possible that the site is just another standard PAS template (possibly even design a fresh website?)"
"ranks really well for doyles room rakeback"'
why not leave it as is and do some linkbuilding for various doyles rakeback anchors and maybe write a post or two on doylesroom? Track what happens and go from there. It is ranking well? go with it, see if it is worth it.

With bought sites I have found it can be really touchy early on. I like to wait at least a month. So you buy the site and change servers, IP, DNS...that is enough to change without raising any flags.

The key is you are already ranking high for this so don't disrupt what is working. Some people when they sell a site they rip all links to that site off any they control. Getting links early can help against this and getting links should improve rankings for other terms too. and you should be able to tell pretty quickly if it is worth it to continue, before doing a re-design.

I have seen many sites lose rankings/pr/trust initially when a new design is implemented, purchased site or otherwise, but then come back after 3-4 weeks. I have done it many times. Also seen lots of sites that I didn't change at all for the first few months keep rankings after purchase.

Not saying you can't do a total redesign and keep your rankings. If it wasn't ranking for anything meaningful I would do redesign first thing, structrue, everything. But it is ranking, so not worth the risk and time and cost of redesign, not right away at least.

Get 5 links this month about doyles rakeback. I wouldn't use same exact anchor text on all of them, throw in a "best doyles room rakeback" or "doyles rakeback" or "get rakeback at doyles room". Mix it up. I am sure there are many here that can help you out with this.

Check 404 errors and redirect them to correct urls or to homepage. Moving servers, redesign, things happen. Xenu Link Sleuth is pretty cool at finding broken links.

Get analytics installed and monitor for keywords, searches that you are ranking for that could use their own new page.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks very much for your reply I appreciate it. Just to give you some further information. We bought the site when it was a very bare 6-10 page website and converted it over to a PAS rakeback site (copied over the same content though). We already spent quite a big on a few links so it seems to be doing ok for the moment (went up a few spots since we bought it).

But I was discussing with my partner whether we just just have the doyles room offers on it. Personally I believe we should just have Doyles room, while he believes its good to have all the PAS rakeback offers. Traffic coming to the website will be mainly from people searching for doyles-room related keywords, i believe focusing it to be the better option, but I may be wrong!

I would offer doyles and at the most two different options. Focus on doyles but it wouldn't hurt to have one or two different offers as long as they offer something really different. I would make sure they are from sites not on cake.

If that is the case (and if the domain in question was DRRB) then focusing on Doyles Room does make a lot of sense.

I like this thinking as well...if it is drrb you are talking about I would put two inferior deals to doyles room to make sure the option most visitors are looking for is the best one.
