Wanting to reach top spot

Hi all,
Although i'm not completely new to the affiliate market within the niche, i have thought that its about time that i try to stand on my own two feet and move into the area solo.

Previously i have been providing content and working on a number of websites with other affiliates on the basis that i created content, they bought it and that was that.

After selling a few articles the other night, a member here said that if i was to set about the market properly and worked on my SEO, i should have the foundations to produce a site that would rank well within the SERPs.

Confidence isn't quite the biggest asset that i possess in terms of website creation and at the moment i'm thinking that creating sites and selling them off would be the highest i would be able to travel within the area as i'm more the content creating kind of affiliate then the marketing.

I have today decided that i would hold onto a domain related to Winner Poker and would look to develop the site within gaps of work that i am taking on.

Knowing that the domain is a big factor for ranking well for that specific keyword term i bought the domain while i was holding talks with the affiliate manager there.

I guess my question is, what tips do you have for me for when i get the chance to launch my assault on the SERPs?

Thanks and any comments that you can let me have about the site (its only a few hours of work into it) would be great.

Just to note that i know at the moment the content on the site is in strong need for presentation work but i thought i would get the content on there and it can be awaiting indexing while i find the time to develop it further.

That and your limiting your results to one specific program. Thats fine when its a site like Pokerstars, Full Tilt or even Party where they have an established track record of converting and retaining players. You've picked one specific room - a non US one at that - and will need to hope that the conversions are enough to keep you going.

Let's suppose you get it ranking and put the next three months into just that one site, (assuming your still writing content for other affiliates). What happens when when you don't make much? Will you try again with another room or do you think your going to backtrack a bit?

I know people say to limit yourself to only a few select rooms when first starting a website so you don't feel so overwhelmed but I dont think you should focus on one room only - .

I would take the site down again until it's fully finished. You don't want lorum ipsum to be indexed, do you?

Nevertheless, for a mini site it's not a bad idea, but like Kaus says, don't limit yourself to one specific poker room. In each case, you could add a section called "Other Poker Rooms this Network".

Giorgio, in regards to placing a section aimed towards other poker rooms - It was my first through to promote a number of the iPoker rooms on there at the same time but with the domain being specific to Winner Poker, they have told me i can use the domain as long as i don't promote other poker rooms.

I think i will retain the site as a mini site and then look to up the work rate on thatsGambling, at the moment its ticking along with a steady stream of income but i need to really breath life into it again.

Thats the better search term and you have an exact match.

It's not the most popular phrase ever, but it's more the conversion rate based on the term "coupon code", or "referral code", or "bonus code" or "marketing code" or whatever terminology the specific room uses. Done right, you should see conversions of 90%+.

True, if the poker room's bonus code overrules the affiliate link.
