    Default Domain Value

I bought the domains CHIDDYBANG.NET and CHIDDYBANG.ORG a few months ago. Chiddy Bang was a relatively unknown group/artist at that time, but they have since exploded and are becoming more and more popular each day. Even the .info has since been purchased by someone.

The term got 550,000 (got few thousand when I bought it) searches last month, and I expect Chiddy Bang to get even more popular over the next few months.

What would .org and .net domains be worth if they get 600k+ exact searches monthly? I am trying to figure where/how to sell them...

For starters that is a glitch or a pad. Google keyword tool has it at 165K exact match, I'm not sure where this band is from but other US only tools barely have any traffic for that. Of course if they are growing rapidly in popularity then keyword searches will increase.

There are a few problems though:

    1) These domains generally don't monetize well.
    2) Band domains outside long time mega super stars (Celine Dion, Bon Jovi etc) are not competitive enough the domain will matter that much and most would prefer a brandable .com fan site.
    3) in this niche .org and .net are not viewed as high as they are in certain competitive niches. (see problem two).
    4) this might be a bad faith registration and you could lose the domain if the band wanted to contest that it was (This is minor as most all bands will not do this - Fan sites are great for them, but is still a concern none the less)

I don't feel this domain has an inherent value. For example if you owned onlinebingo.com a large line of people would form to get their hands on it. There is a value that can be gauged in advanced due to the way the same high demand industry has acted in the past: making it easier to determine expected value.

My statement that says it doesn't have an inherent value doesn't mean it won't sell for a large price. Just that the value is going to be what somone is willing to pay for it, and you're best chance at getting a large price is either fluke luck or aggressive marketing making someone desire to own, kind of like the old you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink, but you salt their hooves and make the want to drink trick. Even if you listed it relatively low for its potential volume (and 600K was truly the potential) say $1,500. I doubt you're going to get a line for it.

Fwiw I have a few domains in .net and .org listen on sedo for $400-$1,500 that have six figure exact matches and are now growing mold. High volume doesn't always mean high sales price. High sales prices often come at random but just as often come from exposure + marketing.

I do wish you good luck with it though.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

Say I wanted to sell these in a month or two, where would be the most effective place to list them? Thanks for the other advice as well.

To get a lot for it private sale - smaller forums etc.
If you're not using the domain for a purpose now, park it at sedo with a high fixed price. Then start to promote the idea of owning it to fans, or showing its potential to niche forums.

If you're just looking for quick sell run it at auction over and over again rotating from snap names, to godaddy, to sedo, to afternic until it sells: depending what you're asking that method might take quite some time when grouped with a lot of other domains.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.
