Common things to promote are Amazon, Ebay, Clickbank, Commisson Junction, Viagra and other meds, porn, I have never promoted any of these but other affiliates have success with them

Does anybody have experience with clickbank products? Is it hard to get traffic for the major keywords like weight loss, etc.? What are the most common affiliate approaches here?

I'm not promoting any ClickBank products now, but I did a couple years back and its an awesome program. They are trustworthy, pay on time (every week I believe), great commissions, and decent support.

I'm not sure about the products now, but there must be a ton there to promote.

I didn't try it before but checked it out today. And yes, there's a ton to promote but I don't know how. I guess it's not worth your time creating websites for specific products because it seems to be tough to outrank them. And I'm not sure how hard it is to rank well for some weight loss, investement etc. keywords. And reviews about certain ebooks is out of question I guess. At least it's pretty expensive to buy and read some of them

I use to have a few review websites for Clickbank products...

Instead of promoting a single product you could try picking a niche with several products and create a review landing page. Usually I'd pick one product that I want to push the most, but I'd also list 3-4 other products in the niche and list why the product I'm pushing is better then the other products in the niche...

Traffic can be difficult to get until you have some SE rankings, but you can always throw some articles up on article directories and sites like Squidoo and Hubpages.

Ideally you shouldn't target "Weight Loss" since it's very competitive, but there are plenty of long-tail keywords out there that wouldn't be that hard to rank for with some quality links.

Some people I know are having success with some smaller niches on CB right now such as Migraine Relief and Hemorrhoid Relief. The Wii and PS3 products are also doing pretty good right now.
