Can someone explain facebook to me

On a personal level, I've renouced facebook. I think it's evil. For business purposes, I recognise the potential. So I created a facebook page for my telescope site. How come no body can become friends, write on the wall or do anything other than to "like" the page? I can't seem to figure it out. I want people to upload their own photos. In the permisisons, there's a checkbox on "allow users to upload images". Still, there's no apparent way for users to do anything. Help!

In order for them to participate I think they will need to "like" the page first... either way you should focus on getting them to do that.

When people who haven't "liked" your page land on the fan page you want to set it up so an image instructs them to do that.

Making a personal profile is the only way that anyone can friend you. Many people have created a personal profile as their business page, not sure if that is effective or cracked down on as I have no personal experience in it.

Facebook = waste of time to sum it up.

It got huge not from it's quality (like Google), but by leveraging user emotions, and human jealousy in particular. It's human emotion leverage at its worst.

It's a good marketing case study, if you're looking to make things become viral.

But the product is mostly useless, and overyhyped imo. It's a tool to tickle your ego, nothing ever gets done there, except comparing yourself to other people (even if only unconsciously)
