Default Experience with eBay/Amazon Affiliate Program

Has anyone had experience with ebay's partner affiliate program and the conversion rate for using ebay's products script on your page?

I've got this clothing domain Snoods.org which I'm trying to work out the best way to monetise it before I get going. Would a simple ebay script on the homepage work do you reckon?

Same with Amazon's affiliate program and widgets, do you think this would convert well for ladies snoods (hair nets)?

Or I could perhaps use Adsense? Interested to hear what any other affiliates would do in this case if they had a similar clothing domain like "Scarves.com".

I don't know if eBay is still the same as a year ago when I tried to become an affiliate and was rejected 5 times. It was just impossible for me to sign up and promote their auctions and I know many others have the same issue.

If that changed I might give their affiliate program another shot.

I got in pretty early to the ebay aff program (years ago)and have been using a script called phpbay to easily monetize ebay websites. pulls info on auctions based on your search criteria and displays the latest formated to your page w/ your aff link embedded. I have not used the ebay product script before.

My aff link for phpbay - click here if you want to try it out.

also, fwiw... the ebay aff progam used to rock but not so much anymore... smaller payouts and they are really strict on who they let in now. Make sure you have an informative site you can apply with and who knows if that will even matter. And i had to read your post closely to figure out wth a 'snood' is.

I prefer amazon/cj.com over ebay. I think ebay went with a PPC model based on performance, so I discontinued using it.

I'd write unique product descriptions and insert Amazon product links in each post.

Just lol at how strict eBay is. It is not worth the effort, even if you got in.

eBay was good when the whole world didn't know about it and they were paying decent commissions for new registrations.

If it were me, I'd only use Amazon if you were planning on building other sites using Amazon. The reason being is that snoods probably won't bring you much income on 4-8% commission rates. However, if you do intend on building other sites using Amazon for monetizing, I'd say go for it. What you lack in income will be made up for by using snoods as a way to boost yourself from 4% (starting comm) to 6.5%+ quickly since Amazon moves you up based on quantity. So if you have sites that sell more expensive products (I'd go for $150-$200 plus min), you'll make 50% to 100% more on each one. In other words, use your snood site as leverage to make more from more expensive items you might be selling elsewhere.

If you don't plan on building other sites using Amazon, I'd pass. It won't be worth your time imo. I'd be willing to bet with some effort you'd make much more finding some sort of private advertising deals or something along those lines.

I've mentioned it before I was super affiliate with Amazon for awhile. You have to sell alot with Amazon to make any real money. However, its more difficult now, Amazon undercuts its affiliates here and there. Ebay program is no longer any good.

You have to sell $3,000,000 worth of items to make $150k on a 5% avg. There are bonuses as well at the upper tiers, but you get the gist. Some items are more and less than that %, so its my personal avg. Amazon rapes the affiliates because their conversion rates are the best in the business.

Amazon affiliate in the day was good, now they got it setup they have to order during that visit within a few minute time range or you get screwed on the sale.
