    Default Clickbank Tracking

    Evening all,

In a bid to diversify a bit, I started promoting a Clickbank product a few months back on a domain that has started to attract a fair bit of traffic. As a result, I've sent over 500 clicks to a product that apparently converts at around 5-10% ... and I've not made one sale.

So the point of this thread is to ask two questions:
    - Firstly, is it common for a Clickbank program to just close down and still remain in the store?
    - And secondly, is there some way I can check to see whether the relevant tracking code is still present in the merchants website?

    Thanks a lot

What is the gravity of the product? Ignore the claims of converting at 5-10% you will be lucky to convert at 1-2% with a good product/sales page. There are a lot of duds in the CB marketplace, move onto the next one.

Thanks for the tips - Gravity is around 5.0. I thought this represented a good balance between a product that was wanted and one that wasn't too competitive. Guess I was wrong!

Garvity of 5.0 sucks a fat one. I would not touch a product with gravity of less than 20. Mark Ling recommends min gravity of 30. 5 means sweet FA people are selling the product week in week out.

Find something new in the niche with higher gravity and you're guaranteed to make sales.

Yeah but it can also mean there are fewer affiliates promoting the product. There are a lot of factors in play. I've made daily sales with a product less then 5 gravity so you definitely can make sales with low gravity products. In saying that, higher gravity products tend to be proven and tested sales pages which look a lot more professional so you know it will convert. The problem becomes the competition. Quality traffic is also very important. You maybe getting a lot of traffic + hop clicks but if they are not buyers you are going to have a hard time selling to them.

Yeah and high gravity pages means the sales pages have usually been split tested a ton as well as testing different copy and various other conversion optimization techniques.

So is the Gravity value the thing to look out for? I mean is it worth anything seeing as no one really knows how it's calculated, or is it just a case of trying out a load of programs on Clickbank until you find something that works.

My understanding is that it's the number of affiliates who in the past week have made a sale. Also if say 10 affiliates made a sale the week before this will have some effect as well this will count towards the number too but this is like a decaying number that expires after a month or something (not entirely sure).

As a general rule of thumb, I would say the higher the gravity the easier the product is to sell. If you look at the top gravity products they have all been tested and optimized endlessly to increase conversions. Can also be good for looking at how to write good sales copy, calls to action and how to get people onto email lists.

CB does make it known how it is calculated. Its the number of unique affiliates who have made a sale over the previous 30 days.

Gravity score is 5 = 5 affiliates made a sale. Very simple math.
