Default Anyone here with CJ or GAN?

If you don't mind explaining CJ or GAN (google affiliate network) to me please - I would sooo appreciate it as both systems are confusing the hell out of me. Can I not promote a company direct meaning I get x% based on the total sale. All I see is a lot of product and I don't want one specific product. I want to sell for an entire company and it seems I am limited to the two affiliate programs.

I guess my question is if I use one of the links will I earn on the entire sale or just the one item...also I noticed that most companies are non recurring - is this common outside of gaming. So does this mean that once the first sale has gone through the customer is no longer tracked to me and the company keeps all future sales without having to pay commission. (sigh so much to learn lol)

    Thanks!

Each program has their own terms and also with AMs can usually negotiate higher rates when contacting them after approved. you need to apply for them first / get approved. Many the programs pay off any sales just like a typical affiliate program link where others have unique campaigns for each product and might have ones you can't even apply for.

If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

ahhh ok - see I thought CJ was like PAW where they ran the entire network - didn't realize you have an am after you get approved.

    Thanks Jim!

Yeah sure you'll figure it out quick enough. Quite a few of those programs are on auto approve and just like anything some AMs are better than others where some are just non existent or literally don't exist. What you'll find when dealing with advertising networks is they tend to keep the rates quite small and most are willing to pay more. Even if your just doing something on the side and won't be generating much and not caring for that program, often enough one email showing your not just CPA fraudster is enough to get the first rate bump, so is certainly worth taking the time to send.

I use Shareasale (aff link) with a site of mine, I find them great you can promote just about anything with them and unlike CJ it has no 90 day inactivity thing where you have to reopen your account, plus they have this new thing called pay per call seemingly some people are making a fortune with it, you cant see it or apply until you get your 1st cashout. But all in all I can see myself promoting many things through them.

You will earn on the entire sale.

Most affiliate programs with CJ do not offer recurring commissions. Most programs however do offer an Action Referral Period. This is the length of time the cookies are set on your referrals computer. If a sale is made within the Action Referral Period, usually 30 - 60 days, then you'll make a commission. Also, most programs offer unlimited sales within this time frame.

Unfortunately tons of non gaming industries suck when it comes to terms. 1 of the niches I work in, cookies are supposedly deleted after 30 days as standard, but I'm told some companies do it after 1 day!

If you send someone a lead and they purchase. After 31 days they purchase again, you get 0 commission. Similarly, if you send them to an automailer sequence and they buy after 31 days on it, you get nothing.

Pretty horrible, but apparently it's standard stuff outside of gaming.

Thanks for the help guys - I feel like a newb all over again.

@ Cooldog - if its non recurring what happens to the customer. Do they belong to xxx store or are they fair game again.

Example - Customer goes to my site, clicks the link and makes a sale. Customer goes back to google a month later, finds site B and orders again. Does site B earn on the second sale or will the store earn 100%. (I hope that makes sense). Just trying to look at this from a rankings perspective and repeat customers.

Oh and also, say site A offers 10 products. Often they only offer commission on 1 product and after someone buys it they work hard on upselling the rest, but cut you out of the loop.
