    Default APMEX affiliate program terminates

    Just got this email:

    Dear APMEX Affiliates:

As the one-year anniversary mark for the APMEX Affiliate program passes, we reflect on the relationships made and valuable work that you, our affiliates, have put toward the program and to thank you for your partnership and commitment.

We regret to inform you, however, that after careful consideration we have decided to terminate the APMEX Affiliate Program effective September 22, 2011. As our business priorities continue to evolve we may consider re-engaging in an affiliate initiative in the future.

In an effort to make this transition as smooth as possible for you, APMEX is committed to being available to answer any questions you may have.

Our drawdown plan is a follows:

    · Link deactivation: APMEX will deactivate all affiliate links on September 22, 2011. This means that any APMEX banner ads or text links that appears on your site will show an error message when clicked.

    · Ad removal: We kindly request that you please remove any APMEX ads or text links from your website by September 22, 2011 to assure that your clients don't experience an error message when attempting to click through to the APMEX site.

    · Commission payouts: Final commissions will be paid in keeping with the current action life cycle and the affiliate payment policy as stated in the Publisher Service Agreement.

Once again, thank you for your effort and partnership as an APMEX affiliate. If you have any questions regarding the program termination please contact Cashlie White.

We wish you much success in the future.

    With admiration,

    Cashlie White

Wow, this is actually quite a shock to me as well. Our consulting agreement with them ended in July so we have been out of the loop. After we left they stopped doing the radio shows and blogging, but to just end the affiliate program! This really makes no sense to me at all.

Wow, that's a shame. All the hard work you guys put in to get it to a high level and then terminate it. At least you guys took it from nothing to a great program fast.

No worries, if they like lighting money on fire it's fine with me. Hardly worried, even really optimistic tbh.

Yea it really is a shame. After thinking about it and absorbing it for a while I have my own conclusions. I know they were very concerned about the new Nexus laws popping up as well as not having 100% control over what affiliates were publishing on sites. They are very protective of their brand. It's typical in corporate America to see new management come in that doesn't understand affiliate marketing and thinks affiliates are an expense versus a profit arm of overall marketing. Hell we see that in gaming all the time.

A new precious metals affiliate program for GoldSilver.com just came online on CJ last week too. Little do they know, they are are in the right place at the right time and are going to see millions more in sales each month than they probably expect.

I'm still a bit speechless why the execs would shut down a program generating millions in sales each month. I guess that's why I work in a sweatsedo and they're in suits in a board room. What a bummer.

Goldsilver is for purchases $1000 and up though, but yeah we'll just focus our efforts elsewhere.

Just as an FYI for those of you still curious about what is going on at APMEX......

Donald Trump to Accept Gold Bullion in Lieu of Dollars on APMEX Lease at 40 Wall Street

Moving to Wall Street..... I wonder if the 3 letters IPO are in their plans. I guess that would make sense if they were trying to limit their liability and exposure to halt the aff. program for now. Interesting indeed.
