Default How to Solicit Authority Links

I've been working with this concept a bit, Ill share in this post the best example I have found so far.

The idea is this; some websites link out because they need to. Some companies to this to lower their insurance liability - its like providing a warning on your packaging, maybe not as effective on any front, but the idea is that they are linking for their own good.

    xttp://www.terrainparksafety.org/

Backlink search; linkdomain:terrainparksafety.org -site:terrainparksafety.org - Yahoo! Search Results

Even if you are not a skier or rider, im sure you can recognize these are respected links, and in almost every single case, I believe an aggressive webmaster could obtain these links by creating similiar/better content that is more relevant, more useful, and in the end will benefit each website more if they link to you instead of the website that they are already linking to.

You can use this idea in many ways and many industries, in the end you will create linkable content; even if you are not able to get any webmasters to switch the URL their links are pointing to, you should do ok. If you want to increase your chances of success in creating this "Built to Solicit" content, look for people who NEED to link out for their own good. I.E anyone who does this for insurance reasons, safety reasons etc.

Edit: I woke up this morning to a few nice emails offering me links. No matter what industry, I think the most successful thing I have done to obtain links is finding dead/broken links on someone's site. Make friends and tell them they are linking to wrong URLs or expired sites, it is usually easy to get them to add your link.

That's a great point, I'm famous for spelling like a 2nd grader at times, and over the past few months random webmasters hit me up and point out small errors and I offer links to them for their trouble. So yeah good idea there.

Any advice on how to word an email to do this? Do you think its still feasible asking for a link if you are not replacing the broken link but just making them aware about the issue?

This method sounds good, but it also sounds very time consuming. Its probably worth trying though, it might be a good way to build links I think the best way to write an email is to just be honest, courteous, and professional. Maybe something like:

Dear webmaster, I was just browsing through your website and noticed you have some broken links. I have some websites that are very similar to the broken links on your website. My sites are x years old, very professional, and constantly updated. Your more than welcome to use my websites to replace the broken links on your website. This will also benefit your vistors too as my websites offer great relevant content.

Best of luck, hope it works out for you
