Went up to Canada for a few days. Was about a six hour drive from Philadelphia. Next time I will fly instead, just wanted to have the car available and was unfamiliar with the area.
First day I got there I played at Casino Niagara. I thought they spread 2/5 NLHE, but they only had 1/2 NLHE. Since my friend was playing 1/2, I just played there for the day. Ended up +$270 or so.
Second day I went to Fallsview where only 2/5 was running. Ran like death. Everyone was absolutely terrible, too. Here are two hands...
QQ 2 OTB
Random clown opens to $46, other clown calls. I make it $160. Folds except for original raiser and other caller.
Flop is AKx obv. Original raiser checks, other bum checks, I check. Turn is another K. Other guys get it in with AJ os and Kh8h (????). Obviously they were pros.
Anyway, I was down like $400ish, then this hand happened...
Few guys limp, I make it $35 OTB with Ts 3s. One guy calls.
Flop is Td Qd 6c. Other guy checks, I bet $46. He check raises to $120. I re raise to $260. He calls.
Turn is Kh. He checks, I bet $140, he folds.
Ended up making $310 on the day. +$600 or so for the first two days at this point, maybe 6 hours of play.
Third day I played at Fallsview again. Played two $1200+ pots AI on the flop with 1039873 outs and bricked both (really should have won the one without showdown). Won a $1000 pot or so. Was down around $500 when this hand happened.
Raise, call, I re raise with KK, guy SNAP shoves for $900ish total. This guy wasn't tight and QQ/KK/AK made a lot of sense considering AA folds out JJ/QQ/AK when it overbet shoves there. Anyway, I of course call, he has AA, and I brick the board.
KK < AA for a little over $2,000. Played a little longer, but nothing much happened. That put me at about -$1150 on the day, and -$500 or so on the trip. Nothing I could do, so whatever.
Notes/observations about Canada...
1. They really do care about hockey more than anything in the world.
2. They use "eh" at random times and with no rhyme or reason.
3. Some places think the US dollar=Canadian dollar, while some don't (???).
4. Why do they use coins for $1 and $2 ffs.
5. Everything is more expensive, even when converted, but that might just be the area.
That should be about all, back to work dammit.

) it would have been much higher, and things wouldn't have seemed so expensive. Hopefully next time you come up it will be better eh
