Just won the lottery :(

Okay so I never ever play the lottery, but in Thailand its all common all this crazy budha stuff to try getting the winning lotto #'s. Anyways so last weekend there was a big party I don't really understand where everyone blasts airplanes in the sky and they have dancing etc. Anyways so I do it an everyone is like wow did you see that 770. All telling me 770 will win the lotto this week.

I pay not attention. Then after getting heckled by a lotto peddler the next day I look down see 770. Okay I buy. So here I have 770 as the last three digits. I know nothing about thai lottery.

This was yesterday. Now fastforward to 10 minutes ago:
My wife comes in dancing all around the room we just won the lottery.

Really how much. She is to excited to even talk says she is going to go ask someone because she never played before. She takes off quickly on the motor bike. I go start googling what we win. Now I'm disappointed the most we might have won is $65,000. However that's an exact # to something I was looking to do, so i was like well if we won that it would be cool.

She comes back in with huge smile "we won 4,000 baht ($125)" she says. I'm very low and depressed now, she's incredibly excited still. I'm predicting right now going to need to set aside at least a $20 per month lotto budget right now oh well at least she'll be entertained and we'll be back to in the negative just like most everyone else that plays the lotto. Ugh horrible beat totally prefer to have lost then won $125.

LOL since writing this post she must have called 5 different people to say she won the lotto LOL

Step 1). Sit your wife down and tell her that you are very happy that she won the lottery.

Step 2). Explain that she has now used up all her lottery luck with this great win - but that you love her so you are going to agree that she can take $100 from the prize money to spend on the lottery in the next year.

But once it's gone - that's it.

Step 3). Take $25 and spend it on a great meal with her and her family.

Step 4). Once she has lost the $100 - talk about the great meal that you had with her family with part of the lottery winnings. And how tasty it all was.

This way you do not lose money -you get a great meal - and hopefully she sees that spending money on lotteries does not provide as good a time as spending winnings on family.

Gambling, buddism, and chasing luck does seem to be strongly installed in the asian psyche ... but PokerProp should have authority within the family as both the husband and the gambling expert (writes about it for a living).

Wifey had her luck, she had her chance to create more luck ... but the lucky money is all gone now. The great Budda has decided no more lottery luck in THIS life.

Good post I wish you had posted it earlier actually. I went to sleep early because I was tired about hearing about the lottery lol. To which she responded well but think i ruined the fun a little.
