    Default Are Poker Players Boring?

Do you not think that literally every professional poker player, when he is interviewed or w/e seems so damn boring to listen to?

Even tom dwan, who is imo one of the most exciting/entertaining prospects of online/live poker, is really really dull and flat in his interviews.

I'm posting this thread, because I can see pokernews sites and tv shows are all part of a rising norm to promote poker in a more dynamicand entertaining way. But from what i can see, poker players are essentially very boring people and there is only so far you can interview and promote poker tournments/events or tv shows in that respect.

Even episode of HSP or LNP I find very boring. In fact, I would argue that Phil Hellmuth is by far my favroutie poekr character because he makes everything so much more interesting with his cocky persona and accosting nature at the table.

Every pokernews.com video i see is so redundant: a hot female news reporter interviewing some boring boring boring person.

Can no one find a way to make poker players more interesting or media-friendly as brands. Poker should be a game enveloping the young generation who largely use the internet - that is where the market is.

I've now lost track of the point of this thread. Leave a comment on anything above.

Oh ye, just so i don't offend anyone - I'm not saying if you play poker you are boring. I'm just saying tht every poker player in the tv/media and who appears on interviews is just really not that entertaiing to watch or listen to. For a game revolved around risking millions of dollrs in cash and massive cash prizes and promotions you'd have thought they'd be more exciting personalities..

Who actually watches player interviews? The only good poker videos to watch are the high stakes games, when Matusow is mouthing off, or the big suckouts. Speaking of suckouts, I saw the worst one I have ever seen on FT tonight, on the table I was playing. They get it all-in on the flop when both players flopped a set with AA vs KK (no idea why it wasn't shipped pre), and you guessed it, the last K came on the river. You couldn't have scripted it any better.

Danny N's pretty entertaining in interviews. Are basketball stars more entertaining than poker players during interviews?

Yea, most are boring as hell, but there are some entertaining ones. I like Freddy Deeb, Sammy Farha, Scotty Nguyen (when he is drunk), Daniel Negreanu, Matusow (more so because he is fun to laugh at), Hellmuth when he is whining, and a few others. But come on, poker itself is boring so its hard to sound all that exciting talking about it and most really good players were probably some former nerds that used their talents to make them lots of money.

I don't think poker is altogether boring graham. I know when me and my mates play 3 times a yr it's pretty hilarious watching how people try and suss each other out and coax into calling.

I really think poker can be a great entertaining social game - as well as hilarious and enjoyable to wtch, but I think for further promotion it requires exciting characters to really catch a greater following.

It's just a shame imo that shows like HSP have such boring characters in them. TV is about entertainment - not just showing the best players in the world calculate stuff in their head. There's a reason no one watches chess matches on TV.

Poker tv shows CAN and SHOULD be more entertaining to watch with more BANTER and Entertaining characters.

They are, but without a boring nature, they would not have success. People who are emotional get torn to shreds in poker (usually).
