Default You Think You've Had A Bad Beat? Watch This!

OMG this is freaking sick. You also have to consider this happened in the 70's, when the amount of $$$ involved was much greater than it would be today (and it's pretty significant by today's standards as well, especially for a limit 50/100 game)

This is Fast Eddie, a guy who used to run with Stu Unger. Here he recounts a $50/$100 Stud hi/lo split bad beat of epic proportions!

Nice post PN. These type of stories are why I love the fact that I am a business person and poker affiliate. I cannot imagine being 50+ years old and looking back at being a "professional gambler" my entire life. Aside from guys like Ivey who make millions on endorsements and "equity" in online card rooms, I don't know many professional poker players that really live the dream, have a great family life, and can say they love how their life has worked out the last 10 to 20 years years.

Maybe I am biased since I make a great living on the business side of poker, but I have never heard of anyone living a "great" life solely from being a poker player.

Feel free to argue it out if you are a "professional poker player" and make 100% of your income from poker.

Yeah, it's sad how many great players there are, with no money and living in trailers. The Barry Greensteins of the gambling world are few and far between. After living in Vegas for only a few months, it still strikes me how many 'professional' players there are, and how few of them have two nickels to rub together.

The problem with the gamblers is that they're addicted to action. So while they may have the skill to cleanup at the card table, they start donking off their dough on sports betting, craps, roulette, etc.

The drive that allows some of the top players to succeed without fear of losing money at the highest limits can also be a burden. They could win $20 million tonight. But tomorrow the high would have worn off and they'd crave action again. The money is immaterial.

I would certainly choose playing poker for a living over punching a clock for "the man". But would also prefer running my own business to having to rely upon poker to make my living.

When I watch High Stakes Poker I envy guys like Farha and Elezra. They play like complete nutjobs, but this is because poker isn't their main source of income. They both own businesses that are lucrative.

So Farha can call two preflop raises out of position with K5 s00ted! because he just wants to outplay people. It's about winning to him, not really about the $$$.

Meh, I didn't find that all that humorous or entertaining.

Perhaps if they had a better looking chick. I mean, I love Asian girls.....LOVE them, but she didn't do much for me.

Then again, I lean towards the Japanese girls, something about their appearance is nicer than other Asian countries to me.

I was just telling this story to someone today and thought I would bump this.
