    I still want to believe!

You definitely wouldnt want to be hit from that serve. I was a ball-boy a long time ago at the NSW Open and one of the first rules was to never try and catch the ball form the serve, it generally broke kids' hands....

On second thought, here's a way they could have done this easily: Use an academy ball (softer, low-energy ball). Getting hit by one of those doesn't do much harm, even at 50+ mph, and you can try the serve until he hits the can. The sound of the hitting would be different, but you can easily edit the sound and replace it by a snippet of sound from a normal ball.

You guys do realise he did it twice in a row in that vid?

It's absolutely and totally and utterly fake. It got us talking though, nice.

Why does everyone think that it is fake?

Federer is the best tennis player in the world and can consecutively ace opponents on the line in tie break situations.

I beleive it's real. FYI I don't think being a tennis coach or ball boy qualifies you to claim what other people with skills far superior to yourself can't do.

    You're actually telling me that he can't hit a 30cm x 10cm can from 10m away?

Because he isn't going to serve a tennis ball at someone's face, that's why. Come on....are you serious? It's a viral and very well produced. Anyone who thinks it's not fake is seriously deluded.

Did anyone spot the World Cup conversation at the start? Fed is happy his team beat Spain.... the English guy mentions "Hawk Eye" - i.e. the goal that never was against Germany.

The fact that it's a viral doesn't mean it's fake.

The gramps in this video below is able to hit a basket of tennis balls from across the court. Well, maybe that's a viral publcitiy campaign for that particulr indoor tennis centre.

Of course he can, maybe one out of 20 times. You need to practice for this, since hitting a serve to a specific spot on the court is one thing, hitting a target standing x meters away at a specific height is a totally different thing.

Question is, will YOU want to stand there and have a 50% chance to get hit in the face the other 19 times before he hits the can?
But like I said, they probably did the shoot with softer academy balls, then they can shoot multiple sequences until it works out, without hurting the guy.

Yeah, but if you are getting paid enough, I'm sure you are willing to hurt a bit if you get hit.

I'm just saying that a pro tennis player will have the accuracy required to hit this target, especially one as good as Fed.
