We were talking about the advantages of being an affiliate compared to a player over IM and he said that. lol. classic.

I agree with him honestly. Playing poker for living would be like torture to me.

I honestly don't think the difference is that big, after all, both is basically just pressing buttons for a living. Sometimes the buttons make you money, and sometimes they make you loose money.

Being an affiliate does offer way more versatility and is easier to give a positive spin, which is kind of nice.

I disagree I think the difference is huge. Getting bad beats in poker really gets to you, as well as going on downswings. I think there are a lot of lot adrenaline rushes in poker. Affiliating is much more laid back with less variance. I know I'll probably live longer affiliating then playing poker lol.

As a mid-limit grinder (20/40 through 40/80 generally) I much prefer playing poker for a living than working for "the man" punching a clock.

Then again, I'm not playing tons of variance-fests (i.e. tournaments) which will wear you down if your mindset can't handle the lose 19 times so I win #20 and make a big score mentality.

Likewise, I'm playing limit poker and mixed games (i.e. HORSE). So I don't have the hyperaggressives giving me headaches like they might in the NL hold em cash games.

But at the end of the day, there's a TON more money working in the industry. And that's why I'm getting into the business side of things now. That way I can make enough money to play poker more for fun, because it does lose some of the enjoyment factor when you do it for a living.
