    Default Youtube Earnings Potential?

I got approved for revenue sharing by youtube.com recently so Ive been doing a bit of research to determine how much this can be worth. Most indications tell me that you should earn about $.75/1,000 views (CPM) for a video that can go viral. I think this normally excludes videos that provide high value/targeted traffic. I just dont think that those types of videos go viral very often.

This number seems reasonable in the grand scheme of things to me. I'm certain the EV is less than $5 CPM just based upon principle. I was guessing $1-$2 CPM for youtube when I started looking into this.

So yeah it looks like it pays peanuts. Obviously you don't upload videos to youtube for the direct earnings though.

I would suggest $0.75 is probably top end as well! Probably more likely $0.10 to $0.75, depending on your video niche. For a generic entertainment/viral video the CPM will be very very low.

The family behind Charlie bit my finger - again ! - YouTube have made "Over £100,000", but haven't disclosed the full figure. Though you'd assume it is somewhere between £100,000 and £150,000 based on what they have been saying in interviews.

That video has had 390,000,000 views... which gives an appalling CPM!

Very smart strategy by YouTube, I had no idea they paid money for views. If only they paid a bit more, I don't think anyone is going to bend over backwards for that kind of money lol

They don't pay per view but per click of the advert overlayed on the advert.....this is driven by adsence and is split with YouTube and you

Our tebow video is 147k views plus right now, we didn't turn on monetization, but we might not do it all and do preroll ads instead. or in video sponsors, not sure. I think its allowed only if you do not use monetization on the video and you can select which u want to monetize and which u do not.

I have a personal video that has about 225k views and that hasn't made much at all with adsense.

They do pay on a CPM basis if thats how people are bidding. Adsense works both ways.
