    That's not what I mean - I just mean that there are worse injustices in the status quo that impact a greater amount of the population to a more severe degree than this ever will.

    I also meant to make the point that this is not a new intrusion on freedom, really - it's more of a repackaging of an old one.

    OK got you. Yes, there are worse injustices at this moment, but this new law sets a frightening precedent. It's one thing to wiretap people without warrants, but an imaginary line has been crossed in my mind when they now say that US citizens can be detained without a trial or anything. We won't have mass concentration camps any time soon, but this is bad news for the future. It's things like this that will come back to bite us in the future.

    I imagine most of the country is against this, but that doesn't matter any more.

    That's very scary news, especially when a country as powerful as the USA applies it. Even if it is unjust, I don't think anyone can stop them (which makes it more scary). These new powers potentially allow them to lock up anyone, and use terrorism as an excuse. I'm so glad I live in Australia. Everyone is very laid back here, including the government
