With the bailout and stimulus plans we're fucked anyway. All those fucking politicians do is borrow from the future, and eventually we'll reach a point where we can borrow no more.

The dollars value will continue to decline, and taxes will be increased while services are cut or reduced.

I can't remember the exact figures, but I recently read something about how Defense vs. Social Services (welfare, medicaid, etc) used to be far heavier on the Defense side (I think it was something like 50% to 20% give or take?)

And now Social Service spending has increased to the point where our Defense budget is only 26% and Social Services were north of 60% or something?

Not 100% sure on those figures, but know I read them recently. I don't mind having a support system in place to help take care of people....within reason.

But there's a shit-ton of abuses in our social services, and it's not just medical spending that needs to be fixed. We need a system that doesn't encourage people to be lazy and non-productive. But we also need a system where employers can't abuse and take advantage of their employees either.

It's a fine line to balance, and we haven't gotten it right. In the interim, we're just throwing away money at special interests and failing companies, further increasing our current and future problems.

I read a summary of the bill and it just looks like your run of the mill spending program. What makes this one worse than all the other crap we're throwing money at?

Some people are saying it will cause costs to go up and others are saying it won't. I'm sure it will - but how much?

Either way, this country is fucking itself.
Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward.
