Mod's Notice... (avatars)

Ok, since I am now a MOD, I want to make an announcement:

TIME TO LIVEN UP THINGS A BIT HERE AT PAL!

Having a solid avatar should be mandatory...let's see some cool pics and icons beside everyone's name!

Maybe Jeremy can even work out a cool contest to help the ball rolling...?


Anyways - start searching for some cool and "UNIQUE" pics that will "represent" you well. Boobs are allowed as long as nipples are covered (unless they are Asian - says the boss...).

Oh - and NO DETROIT LIONS, MINNESOTA VIKINGS, and GREEN PAY PACKERS crap - GO BEARS!

Although your avatar is certainly very nice I think mine is way cuter. I will take a look though and find an avatar that is on par with yours . I'm more of a "ass man" myself so I'll try to find something in that category, hopefully one that bounces!

-p.s. The other day I was reading a thread you posted in and my fiance came up behind me and was like "What are you staring at?" I was honestly just reading the posts but she didn't believe me lol. She really didn't care but I thought it was funny.

Honestly as a mod I think changing your avatar would be appropriate as women may an do find this a bit unprofessional. I'm good with a contest as long as it stays professional. Last thing we need is to do anything which could cast PAL as a circus site and reduce the professional view of this forum. With the mess at CAP, PAP, and the recent GPWA weirdness, we need to be leading the industry.

In my opinion we need to focus on trying to find a way to make PAL as an affiliate forum more relevant in the industry and not having a boob avatar contest.

Just my two cents, but there are others that feel this way, dunno if they plan on speaking up but I will. Also this belong int he Coffee shop not the "General affiliate Forum" Since you are a mod I'll let you move it

You have a good point but when I read your post something popped into my head so I wanted to throw it out there. It certainly doesn't make you wrong or anything, its just an observation.

I've never been to a conference but I've seen a bunch of pictures and from what I can tell is that under-dressed/half naked women are a major theme, especially at the after parties..ect. Since I've never been to one I could be way off though. Perhaps the pictures I've seen are not the norm at conferences.

I'm not saying that that makes it ok to have nude avatars or anything but I figure if its cool at a conference it might as well be cool here. I could give too shits though as I was happy with the picture of my little cutie.

Oh yeah conferences and parties are one thing, but having talked with Jeremy over the past couple years I know he wants PAL to be a professional forum that is taken seriously by the various sponsored programs here and other potential programs that want to contribute here. We went through this type of stuff when PN was littering the forum with "LOL Cat" threads daily. It got old, people got sick of it and finally said something. Welall agreed that while all that is cool and funny to some, we didn't want that in the general forum.

The point is this, if we expect the industry to take PAL and the members and mod's on pal seriously, we have to earn that. I'm all so contests, boobs, and having fun. Two things I don't agree with are mod's representing this forum with avatars of bouncing boobs, and having an avatar contest with the tone of what has been proposed on the "General affiliate Forum". Stuff like that is why we have the coffee shop.

If Jeremy endorses thing then fine, I'll stfu because its his forum. But my two cents is that the general forum is for affiliate talk about affiliate related issues. I think it de-values the forums as a whole and if a new comer or high-up exec comes and see that in the general forums as their first impression, then it doesn't do the forum any favors. Again just my opinion, if I'm in the minority then so be it.

Well obviously this is something too meaningless to debate and theres really nothing to even debate if some members are offended by it. I probably sounded pretty shallow now that I think about it lol. I just thought that it was an interesting observation.

Agree with Randy here... needs to be a balance between being a business focused forum and having a laugh... maybe a dedicated thread in the coffee shop with quick warning / disclaimer rather than avatars??

Speaking from the other side - I dont really care what avatars people use as long as its not full nudity or heading close to being classified as porn

Corps doesnt bother me any...although Randy not sure if you remember his super mario one LOL That had me bust a gut.

I dont really bother paying attention to them however,OPB has a point about the conferences. The painted girls made their appearance this year at BAC and I think full nudity is much worse than someone with a pic of bouncing boobs. Sex sells and I think thats a huge role in our industry. Besides FT, Party, 888, and Stars the others use sex in one shape or form to sell their product.

Anyway just wanted to give my opinion because you said some of us ladies may be offended. I dont really pay much attention to people's avas..
