    Default PCA Trip Report

Leaving from the Bahamas tomorrow so I figured I would post a trip report for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

First thing is that I will never again play a tournament under a $1,000 buy in. I played one event that someone had a piece of me in (Omaha) so I had to play that one seriously. I finished in 30/110 and busted to some clown YouTube - Phil Hellmuth Blowup #185 @ the 2005 WSOP (the guy who busts Hellmuth in that video). We got the money in pre and it was a flip (when isn't it a flip in Omaha) and I lost.

Made about $2,000 in cash games, though it should have been more.

Ran like absolute death, but nothing I can do. Made some extremely good plays and the $80-$120 pots really added up.

I played with Chris Moneymaker for awhile at a cash game and made a little from him, though we didn't get involved in any big pots.

I was offer $50 to not play at a table by two guys who I had owned on the previous night when I called with 3s on the river in a $500 pot. I declined the offer and made $450 at that table haha.

I was asked for my ID (to prove I was 18) about 10 times, but I took it as a compliment each and every time.

Atlantis is pretty much overhyped to be 100% honest. Downtown isn't all that exciting and the night clubs sucked. Prostitutes are everywhere and drugs are always a few strides away.

I suppose this is more like a brag post than a TR, but eh. Ask any questions if you are curious about anything down here.

Will be going to play in the next European Poker Tour event (actually UK/Ireland) in February from the 11th-14th, so we will see how the next one compares to this.

Sounds like a lot of fun, especially for us freezing our butts in Europe. I was there once and I had forgot my sun creme, this is a mistake I recommend no one to make.

Jenn and I really want to check the place out, but it seems the Atlantis is a "family-friendly" resort and we don't want to be stuck around screaming children while we're on vacation.

How was it during the PCA? Crazy busy? Lots of screaming children or just screaming drunk poker players?

We sent one of our members down there on a $3500 package and she had a blast. She took a bunch of pics and I'll post a link to her album plus a select few of the 40+ photos here:

Family-friendly would definitely NOT be the way I describe Atlantis. Unless by family-friendly you mean hookers and drugs everywhere. Gambling, smoke, and alcohol at every corner. Restaurants that cater to older clients. Not so much as a free water fountain, let alone free internet. TV that sucks.

It is good for a kid like me at the lowest age and upwards. I think you personally would like it, from what I have gathered haha.

So there weren't tons of families and whiney children running around then at the main resort?

Nope. I am sure there were a few, but nothing that stood out or was bothersome. Of course you have to keep in mind that the place was full of tons of people there for poker.

Yeah, we just can't stand crying babies and bratty 5 year olds in large numbers (or small numbers for that matter)

    Thanks for the headsup!

I did, however, notice about 130 sets of Asian triplets. This should make the trip for you.

Anyone here ever go to the Aruba Classic? I'm going to try and go this upcoming year, I hear it's a great time and a bunch of locals go.
