Default Promotional advantages of a fit female poker player

So i'm sitting at my desk, and surfing through poker websites, and realise how f*king easy it would be to gain promotion and limelight in the world of poker if you were a fit female poker player.

Really think if I had money, time and power like TonyG or something I would be talent searching for poker fitties, then sign them up and train them till they're good.

Just imagine a female poker professional, who is already a supermodel, and how much media attention she would get. I guess it would kinda be like training a monkey, but i'm sure it could be feasibly done.

I think you can become pro in poker with good training in well under two years, so selecting a model and turning her into a poker player wouldn't be that hard.

Plus, it's not like it would damage a poker room having a young girl on their professional player roster to boost female players and media limelight. There must be a big demand for such talents. Wish i was a fit female.

Besides the obv appeal from a male perspective - what would that bring the poker room exactly? Im not following really unless your just fantasizing. If you think people will join a poker room because of some chick, your wrong. Or I could be - but I doubt people who join players only are joining because of the 40 something, and obv bad botox job that's featured on their homepage . I dont think people signed up to Titan back in the day because of Joanna Krupa either. Sex sells but I doubt its going to make some guy say OMFG I have to join this poker room.

But hey what do I know

So, you're saying between eating bananas, sniffing each other's butts, picking bugs off each other's backs and eating them and swinging through the air that it's possible women can learn how to play cards?

    Hi Kaus.

I'm pretty sure i could name over one hundred industries or companies that have used chicks in advertising/marketing to gain customers.

If bodog made more of an effort marketing in the UK with their sex appeal, i'm sure theyd be more successful. Sex is the number1 universal best seller in marketing. My key point wasn't that a female poker player would get players necessarily, but that she would become a massive brand in herself and gain massive media publicity and marketing awareness.

I do beleive however in a male predminated world like poker, the marketing rewards of sex appeal would be greater. Look at maria sharapova or anna kornakova in tennis.

Imagine a fit female hotty poker player on the front of a lads magazine or something. Where does she play? Carbon Poker? Ok brand recognition right there in the target market!

I realise I sound a bit like a horny pervert in this thread, but I think everyone can understand what i'm getting at.

No I don't agree. A half dressed women is not going to attract other female players. A strong, assertive women who is successful in the game will show women players that it is possible. Isabelle Mercier is a beautiful women, but doesn't need to throw her boobs on the table in order to gain publicity. You don't need sex to have a successful women player. You need a successful player who carries herself well - and I think thats where your in the wrong.

btw just curious are you saying that the women players in the poker world are idiots and dont deserve what they have because their not a size 2 with a D implant

Your thinking with something else and not your brain Any model hired to endorse the rooms has always been referred to as what she's known for - swimsuit covers, maxim covers, playboy spreads etc. When have you seen a model not referred to as "Playboy of the Month...." and instead a top class professional player. only the ones who havent done centerfolds

    and at Matt LOL

Likely cause Im not from that side of the world but do you think anna kornakova plays a bigger role than Serena Williams? When I think of Anna I think of her relationship with Enrique - not tennis. When I think of Serena I think of a strong women who excels in her sport and has overcome obstacles.

Yes people advertise with women but it doesnt have to include sex - Look at Nike - some of the best marketing campaigns ever and this one for G is wicked as well. They are using strong women to market a product and that grabs your attention

LMAO - Dude, I don't know if "horny pervert" quite covers it.

All joking aside, there are several sites that have attractive women that can play cards competitively - so no real need for the bimbos.

Maybe you feel the sites aren't promoting the women aggressively enough?

Edit: Maybe the sites on your side of the world don't push sex/poker hard enough? I mean, Carbon Poker does it, Sportsbook does it, Bodog does it, Players Only does it, Reefer Poker does it to some extent I believe....

Imagine a first class female player on the cover of a laddies mag and interviewed for her successes - where does she play - Ladbrokes Poker - branding as well but better

See now I think Pokerstars should be pushing to the female market - they've never done anything towards this niche and yet they have such a strong impact through the media. Seems silly they wouldnt try and market towards the female audience a bit more. (without using sex)

Look at how much attention Liv Boeree and Lacey Jones give AP/UB, and they aren't even anything special. OP, you are correct. If you are a girl who is not Kathy Liebert, you will get signed ASAP. Look at Vanessa Ruosso, she is worse looking than Boeree or Jones, and she is the female representative for PokerStars. What is lost in all of this is that these girls suck at poker. Jennifer Harman or Annette Obrestad are very good, but they don't have as much appeal.

You need to get a good looking girl who is good at poker. There is not someone like this in poker right now. I am not intending to be offensive, just honest.

Im not saying you have to have someone who is ugly or someone who is drop dead gorgeous - Im saying you need a strong women - not a bimbo. A huge difference. and OP's post basically read as long as she's cute but dumb as *ck its ok cause she's still smart enough to eventually learn if someone takes her through it step by step so she can brand the room.

    JD - Lacey who?

What are her accomplishments in relation to her peers.
Poker Players Worldwide :: Women in Poker

Do you think the mass players who sign up to AP/UB did so because of the women they advertise on their site. Did you join AP because of the female players? Do you continue to play at AP because of Lacey? Likely not on both questions

I think what some of you guys are forgetting is that your looking at people who players know about - imho you want to tap into other markets and expand your audience to more than 2+2 and the other poker forums. I think Pokerstars and FT should use their media abilities and showcase talented women players. Have a line-up of 3 or 4 women who say I have done this this and this, total tournament earnings and I play for xxx.net.

Showcasing someone who is half naked does not open up your branding.

Mmm. Anna Kournikova. Thems were the days.

@Kaus what do you mean by a bigger role? A bigger role in what?

Have a look at the endorsement earnings of Anna Kournikova in her prime compared to Serena.

Also, in 2008 Maria Sharapova was making twice as much in endorsements as Serena Williams. That's a pretty clear indicator of what companies are looking for when promoting their brands.

What's a better selling point, a strong woman or a sexy woman? I know which one gets my vote.
Buying all kinds of sites - poker/casino/sports/non gaming. Large budget. PM me with what you've got.
