    Default Suggestion: Quit Locking Threads

I suggest that we don't lock threads such as the PokerStars one. There is absolutely no reason it needs to be locked. The discussion is still going, why should we lock it. Every other thread that has had an issue resolved wasn't locked, so why this one specifically.

What the hell is up with people trying to protect PokerStars. We had thousands of posts about the Full Tilt 60 day thing and it never got locked. Whenever PokerStars starts to get discussed though both at PAP and PAL, it starts to get hushed up.

    Please explain

I don't understand the locking of that thread either, seems like a bit of a weird reason.

Exactly my thoughts. It just seems as though the ability to lock a thread was used because someone could.

Its so frustrating that this is becoming another forum where you cant spreak freely and posts are being locked.
    I just dont understand why?
Why cant we discuss thinks that we want to discuss?
Is Jeremy telling mods to lock threads or has the wrong people being chosen as mods for this forum?
    Jeremy please speak up.
This is now the second time i have been writing a long post only to find out that the thread has been locked. Thats just extremly annoying.

That thread was just a bunch of people trying to call out 321 over some semantics and personal gripe. Jeremy probably told them to lock the thread because it was wasting his bandwidth.

Or perhaps the guildlines have not yet been established. Let's not be too harsh on the moderation guys. This place has been public for like a week so moderating practices are probably not very refined yet.

Perhaps we can make this thread more positive by suggesting when it's acceptable to lock threads and what our expectations are from the moderators?

In my opninion that thread did not need to be locked. In fact, threads should pretty much never be locked. It's the people posting in the threads to should get hit when they get out of line. When a person gets abusive and uses strong language, then remove/edit the post, send them on a time out and let the thread continue to grow. I know we tend to lock threads to prevent things from getting out of hand sometimes. Screw it, let it get out of hand and let those that took it there suffer the consequences with some wanings/temp or permanent banination action.

The reality is there's more than one way to moderate a forum, and everyone will have a different opinion on how to go about it. The best thing to have is a definition of behaviors that are not acceptable. Yes, I said it: Forum Rules. As long as the rules aren't broken, moderators are not to intefere. That means the rules themselves will get updated on an ongoing basis until a comfortable understand is established. The rules thmeselves will determine how much flexibility is given to mods. This doesn't have to be dramatic. Point format is fine. Let's not become drama queens and make statements like "I'll be dammed if I'm going to be made to feel guilty for protecting my house", that's just nonsense. But this palce could ahve a formal list of simple clear rules, along with the consequence. At elast that way everyone knows how this place is intended to run. Then again, maybe the J-man doesn't wnat things to be this formal, in which case full authority is given to mods to use their judgement. That's fine by me too, but it will be a lot more inconsistent.

PTC just a suggestion but maybe you should have an understanding about what someone did or why they did it before you jump to conclusions.

Anyway it appears the thread is unlocked again..nice post MPC

ive been a mod on pretty much every poker forum out there. I locked the thread cause it seemed to me to be solved with carly addressing the cardschat url redirect.

also to further clarify. i have no reason to protect pokerstars and find the current affiliate agreement a joke. Add MGR and you might get some more of my traffic

I got 2 PMs about it and undid it.

If you think moding is easy you are welcome to take my spot. I do this out of service to the man who started me in this biz, nothing more - nothing less.

    I take offense to :

Im disapointed if you thought I could possibly be serious about Jeremy locking that thread to save his bandwidth. If you are talking about my comments regarding 321...I gotta stand firm. It really seemed like people were just going after him for reasons that were not important. Pokerstars just gave an excuse to give him a hard time. The argument; "You changed your mind"...even if true, has no place in that thread when addressed like that.

I have been writing content all morning and did not lock the thread, nor did I really follow it that close or digest all of it.....Similar to NFL referees I am not right in front of every call made. If need be I will go to the booth though

With that said however, I do have a lot of respect for my mods here and truly believe that the decisions they make are usually in the best interest of the overall community.
