Super, Super Slow

PAL has been slower than ever for me in the past day or so, or at least the past hour. This is in both FF and Chrome.

This is not conducive to compulsive posting.

Just fwiw, maybe it's just me idk.

Not sure anyone else would be interested or not? I'd gladly pay a monthly or annual fee if reasonable to have a "PAL light" could just make a theme that has none of the bells and whistles and give to paid members as an option. This BY FAR the slowest site I visit - though probably has to do with my location - its certainly much more an effort for me to use PAL now though.

I totally agree with Props! Some of the new features are wonderful but really are making a mess of things in terms of time waiting for pages to load, lots of script errors here and there and overall small issues which are not really a huge problem but frustrating at times.

I have no problem in joining PROPS and donating some funds to help out.

The only time I have loading issues is around midnight which is due to the extensive backup of the site that is done every night. Outside that, I never have any loading speed issues. The only thing I find annoying is the chat at the bottom but that's cause I hate the FB chat too and it reminds me of it.

For me that chat - whenever i log back in after logging out i come back and see Sebastian's old chats asking me for porn pictures of Jeremy and telling me he can pay with UB! LOL...

Old chats continue to show after logging off, and sometimes you get an error message and it wont close the site down because of those chat boxes. And the beeps they make is also annoying.

Still they are useful if eventually working properly.

I don't mind Sebastian's Jeremy Porn Fetish.

Scroll to the bottom of the forums and hit "VB4 Default Style" in the dropdown. You'll never see an Ad, Sidebar, or banner again. I'll see if we can get the chat issue fixed.

Jeremy I sent you an email earlier when the site was just not useable for me. It's back working again quickly. It's odd no idea what the issue might be - I assumed it was something in this template but I guess that's not the case. I switched the vb defualt template and it was still beyond slow. It seems like 30% of the time the forum works fast for me and like 70% of the time its near impossible to use with pages taking several minutes to load. Anyways more or less just passing it along fwiw, I don't need to post or visit more than 30% of the time anyways so can just use it while the site works - should the trend continue. not sure if maybe its effecting other of your visitors or not so passing it along.

Yeah there is some truth to that. It would appear to happen later at night and I think someone pointed out it happens when there is a backup running i would assume via a cron job.

The backup starts running just after 0000 EST and typically ends around 0130 EST. That hour and a half should be the only time that the site might lag. But a couple minutes to load a page should not be happening at all. My longest load time is a few seconds at the very most. If you guys could shoot me an email or PM the next time you're experiencing any type of minute long load times I'd greatly appreciate it so I can see if there's something else causing lag on the server. Also keep an eye on what plugins are trying to load. Not sure if maybe they're causing issues being geotargetted on the plugin hosted side of things like tapatalk or whatever the hell it was?
