I like to see the open format of the forum - and I'm not sure that there needs to be an elite section.

The only time that I'd really be interested in participant revenue figures is when we see advice posted in the threads. Some of the advice / opinions I've read sometimes from high profile (verbose) members seems out of left field and a little screwy.

Now if I knew that the person was making six figures a month following their methods - I'd be more inclined to pay attention!

There will not be an elite group here. No need for it

I know there are things people don't and wont post on this forum, me included, and others who simply wont even join and post at all - due to this industry being secretive in nature.

I'm not bashing the existence of PAL or any affiliate forum - I just think that a private, invite only forum would allow for more open communication among 'super affiliates'. Perhaps PAL is not the place for it as it seems many of the members here don't like the idea. Maybe somebody reading this can pick up a domain and start what I've suggested - I just don't have the industry contacts to put it together or I'd do it myself.

Here is one reason the elite domainer board is so awesome:

When you read a thread with 35 replies to it, you don't have to look at the username's and posting histories of the people who made the posts to know whether they know what they are talking about or not - everybody there knows what they are talking about, so its all good advice.

Here, and on every forum on the internet, there are a lot of posts from people giving there thoughts who are not experts about what they are talking about - and thus, the advice they are giving may not be the best. When reading this, or any open forum, you must always have that filter on or else you are going to make a lot of mistakes by following bad advice (this is especially true in reading poker strategy forums).

I personally think it would be awesome to have a poker affiliate forum where you didn't need to have that filter on.

What do you think people are hiding that isn't said here or can't be found by analyzing someones website? Even things people tell each other privately (usually between FRIENDS, not to help everyone out there) they really aren't that secretive and you can't really hide anything with a website. If you are expecting people to spoonfeed you information then hire a consultant. Sure, there are a lot of people that come here with good intentions, but there are also a lot of people who think everything is owed to them and everyone should just hand over things that have taken them years to figure out. Well, I can tell you, even in an "elite forum" nothing would change. Maybe you should focus more on contributing to the community, helping other affiliates out (especially new ones) and if it comes back to you, GREAT (because from searching your posts I don't see 1 time where you have really "given back". Sure a lot of times you will help people and won't get anything in return, but who cares, at least you helped someone. It's good karma.

Hmm perhaps it's just me but by asking a question you are asking for opinions, who is to say who's right and who's wrong.

Getting a lot of opinions to help you form your own is what it's all about, the way you might do something will undoubtebly be different to the way someone else does, so who's right?

Affiliates new and old will all have something to say that may be a new way of looking at thinks, being a super affiliates makes no difference to me nor many others i'd guess.

Is someone who makes more money than me a better person than me?

I never thought I would hear someone of such an obviously high caliber say "I just don't have the industry contacts to put it together or I'd do it myself."

I'm also sure when you and all large affiliates started out an open resource like pal would have been an effective, time saving way to learn and avoid the pitfalls, would you have appreciated the help?

I wouldn't think that someone having "baller" status really makes their opinions or advice really any more or less valid. Who knows what they did right to acheive their success, doesn't really mean they are experts in all areas. For example, Jeremy is clearly an expert in running a poker affiliate forum, but am I supposed to actually listen to him when he talks about monetary policy?

I think I'll keep that filter in place regardless......

Exactly. The point of the forum is to not allow those people expecting everything to participate - and to only have those people who have spent years figuring things out.

It is clear PAL is not the place for this as it would likely piss off everybody who was not allowed in - however I think something like this would be awesome and I hope somebody creates it.

Or maybe it already exists and I just wasn't invited

This post is a perfect example. I see the 20 posts, I see that you are British (joking), I see a few other things that point to newb in your post and now my radar goes up and possibly I've just wasted 2 minutes reading your posts - or maybe my radar is off and what you said here actually does have some value. Either way I don't know for sure. I'd like a place where I could go where I would know for certain whether or not you have any clue about what you are talking about as it relates to making money as a poker affiliate.

It is sort of the same reason Hedge Funds and Investment Banks prefer to hire out of Ivey League schools. It isn't because those kids are automatically smarter and more prepared to do the job than people coming from Cal State Northridge, it is because they don't have to wonder if they meet a certain threshold of competency or not. 9 times out of 10 (or more) they are going to be super smart and super motivated and well balanced people - whereas taking somebody from some low rung state school you don't know what the hell you are getting.
