Would I get to be a baller even though I don't have any poker affiliate sites right now?

A lot of the "ballers" or "super affiliates" established their businesses and made the bulk of their money when this industry was in it's infancy. They used the same tactics as we are using today, they just got in at the right time when there was very little competition. There are no "secrets" to making it big in this biz - it takes hard work, good business ethics and a bit of luck.

People have been saying this as long as I've been an affiliate (started in 2005). I'm sure they were saying it before then as well. That type of attitude is the reason so many people give up or don't try at all. Its a cop-out.

Thats about the only thing you've said in this thread that makes any sense. People won't discuss things openly even if it is an elite forum. There are still things people prefer to keep to themselves or will only share with a select few..and the select few is kept to a minimal.

and nice reply Graham...hit the nail on the head

No way it's a cop out. Everyone is looking for a magic potion or a quick fix. If you want to make it into the elite super nova class, you need work your ass off. There is no secret formula!

Fact - most businesses fail within the first year.
Fact - the most successful businesses succeed because the owner sees the opportunity that others fail to recognize. In other words, they get in on the ground floor when the opportunity presents itself.

Want to be a super affiliate?
    Here's the secret...

    Work your ass off
    Recognize your strengths and weaknesses
Have the cash to hire people to do the things you're not good at
Concentrate on providing top quality content
Don't hire writers who barely speak English
Don't buy articles written by people who don't know the subject matter
Have the stamina and patience to survive the first year or two with little or no income
Find a niche or subject that hasn't been exploited to death and develop it
Don't waste your time looking for the secret formula

All of the above (and a lot more) are what it takes to really succeed in this industry today.

Pokerkeep I think he was referring to your comment that the people who are successful now are only successful because they "got lucky" not that they didnt have to work as hard..I could be wrong but that's how I seen your comment.

    If so, I apologize.

I think there is a certain amount of luck involved with every successful business. Being in the right place at the right time and all that.

Yes, and that is who would be in the forum. The forum could start with five people who all completely trust each other and who would all have to agree on new members. Slowly it would grow over time and maintain that 'circle of trust' atmosphere.

The domain community and the poker affiliate community are very very similar. Both focus primarily on traffic monetization and web development. The 'elite' domainer community is amazing and thriving and blows any other domain forum out of the water. I fail to see any reason why it would not work with the poker affiliate community.
