I mean isn't this forum private anyway and most people here are pretty experienced in affiliating. Why do we need some sort of popularity contest going on?
I dont really think that anyone takes it too serious, imo its just there for the fun of it.

    Just my thoughts.
Well, not everyone here has the same level of experience as the next guy (or gal). And many of us have different viewpoints on how to approach situations.

So I think the rep system at least serves as a way for those members who take the time to help others to receive some sort of credit for it (i.e. someone looking at your code to find mistakes, someone helping you with SEO advice, etc)

I joke about the rep system a lot and make a game of it sometimes. But I do think it serves a purpose in helping to identify some of the more insightful posters (myself excluded, most of my rep is from being so active and tossing some humor into threads)

But guys like pokerprop snag rep points because he has some ridiculously amazing stories and insight to share, very inspiring stuff.

And then Randy snags rep points because he's really gone to bat over the whole Cardspike issue, and displayed the patience of a saint when dealing with their crap at first.

It doesn't mean that those with little to no rep points are worthless or anything, just that they haven't brought something interesting enough to the table yet to make someone inclined to give rep points.

If Prop gets green for asking about green, what does Graham get for asking about red?
