That is just retarded. I went and edited my post, had a shit load of trouble saying it was to short, so had to edit and add more words. Then when I finished editing I got a duplicate post.

Please don't use this. If someone wants to edit and thier time runs out have it tell them sorry you can only edit posts within the first 15 minutes,. After 15 min your SOL

It looks silly having two posts back to back when someone doesn't know it does this - and people are gonna report double posts (like I just did)

Should be able to restrict editing to certain forums I would think.

One hour for me would be pretty good.

And make a rule that you can't edit except to clarify things or correct typos, web addresses, etc.

Of course, if you have any problem, a moderator can revert or check what was edited, I think.

afaik this is by user group, so it wouldn't be possible to restrict forums.

this is not specific to any threads but how about ...

making it "if you havent got anything useful or relevant to add" ... wait 15 minutes BEFORE posting at all ... think is it really helpful - then maybe then post

IMHO there has been way to much stupid sh*t posted by seemingly more stupid people than I thought we had around

this would save alot of problems

afaiks there seems to have been alot of drama making people who are going to chip in with nothing helpful, derail or generally act like unprofessional 2 yrs olds, or lord it around like they know everything when they have been an affiliate for 10 minutes or combinations of all or some of the above

seriously common sense and common decency would go along way and afiak seems to have got in really short supply in the last year or so in the industry ;-(

Ive been biting my tongue for a couple of weeks now as adding this to any of the threads wouldnt have helped

but the amount of scamming, stupidity, arrogance of inexperience or infact or established people, unprofessional behaviour, stirring and unresolved issues that so many seem to have makes me question wanting to deal with just about everyone

thankfully I hope Ive made enough good friends and contacts in the few years previous to this last year or so ... things imho dont seem to have got better as more affiliates have got into the biz

people seem bitter / ill informed / overly naive / dishonerabe and happy to take advantage or plain opinionated (with near zero experience afaiks)

anyway - as ranting seems to have become the order of the day - In was feeling left out ;-)

    just my 2p

    cheers SB

ps. I might just delete this in a bit as its probably too true to how I feel and probably too much of a criticism & I hate being negative

see now I wanted to edit that - and now I cant

4king stupid - and all this because some people cant essentially behave respectfully even when they disagree

    ;-(

sorry Jeremy - I really hope you can get the old decent nature of the forum back - even if that meant some elitist club that at least means people know and can trust each other and also means we dont have stupid cr*p posted by frankly seemingly not so right people who are convinced they are right

Personally, I think 15 minutes is to quick. for example I just made a post in the Valentines thread, which required uploaded a pic or two to my website, etc. By the time I was done, I couldn't even edit the post after finding a typo or two.

Somewhere around 30-45 minutes seems reasonable, especially taking into account longer posts as I believe the time actually starts when you click reply to a message, not from the time you post your message.

    I agree with Scrawny Bob

I'd edit my message, but I have no edit button and its only been a few minutes.

My suggestion was based off several times people have gone back and removed posts days later, and in some cases MONTHS later.

    1 hour is fine

Of course perhaps the latest incident was insignificant, i'm not sure if it was or wasn't. It just reminded me of another where a mod here was acting like an ass in a thread, then when realized he was wrong, deleted some of his posts, edited them and change the entire conversation. To those reading it later others who were responding to them appeared to be on mad tilt rants.

Then there was also a situation several months ago where someone contradicted themselves and the evidence was on PAP and this was over an issue important to someone. (i was not involved). Of course can't change it but they went back and edited out their posts at PAP.

Drama is not the huge issue here. This is not "hey let's not edit posts so we can have more drama". For one read a big thread and then after the fact be like wtf can't even follow it anymore do to edits. Secondly a LOT of people use PAL as a business - there always has been side businesses going here. If there wasn't we wouldn't have as strong a forum i don't think - because some of these people give advice etc freely but in exchange benefit from networking even if it is small as link exchanges or scoring the best employees etc. The pasts posts sometimes have relevance and might have relevance but more and more commonly now are being edited out after the fact.

Anywyas was just a suggestion. For sure though if we are going to have this feature the ability to edit for the time limit needs to be restored as right now it is not functioning as intended.
Ultimately I don't care that much about this feature. It was a suggestion. If more disagree with it than agree with it, then I'd be the first to say okay it was a suggestion but if most don't like it then don't do it.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

I'll probably change this back on Monday. When I got home, I was a bit buzzed and the first thing that came to mind was "Ah Geez, not this shi** again."

It is annoying not to be able to edit.
