Default Am I doing this wrong?

Hey guys I am Michael, owner of BeatTheRake: Rakeback, Promotions and Bonuses - I started this thing back in November 2009 and now have about 200 members and I am generating about $200 a month (not counting the $10 bonus for each player that raketherake gives me) - Now, I am only getting paid 4% per referral because I am affiliated with rakebackpartners.com - Should I be getting more? Am I doing something wrong? Any help / comments would be great! Thanks!

The simple answer is yes. Firstly, although rakeback partners offer great deals to players, the percent that they give to affiliates is the lowest anywhere. You should be getting at least double that at every room other than full tilt. Secondly, i'm very suprised that you have 200 sign ups. (how you have 200 sign ups generating $200 is another discussion entirely). The reason that i'm suprised at your sign ups is because it's impossible to seo those sites, because you can't add pages to them to target keywords. I feel terrible saying this as Karim (raketherake) is a really nice guy, but you really should start looking at other options if you want to start taking this business seriously. Feel free to pm me if you need help with anything.

I signed up at RTR five months ago and used their template on two of my domains. I first thought "great, I have a complete website done in only 30 minutes, let's wait for the $$$".
I did not put any work into it (besides writing 2 "news"-articles of 150 words each), but I'm also not earning a cent with the two sites (which does not amaze me since I only get about 5 visitors... no, not per day, per month).

So while you complain about not earning enough, I would be interested in how you managed to earn that much

I am taking this business very seriously, so what the hell should I do? I have very good people skills and I have a good way of mass communicating with a ton of people, what should I be doing?

You should talk to the Rake Update guys, their sub affiliate rates are 2-4x that.

Especially with the new Full Tilt commission rates you will only receive a small lump sum payment for players you refer to your rakeback partners site. Since about 70% of the players i have referred are for Full Tilt you should certainly start looking for other options either PAS, Rake Update, Rakeback Engine etc where you will be getting some better rates as well as more potential for your website in long run in terms of customisation and SEO.

I think it would be a good idea if you start out by giving people a rough idea of what you have been doing, and what your goals are.

It is very difficult to offer good recommendations, without really knowing what you are currently doing, and what kind of techniques you plan on using to build your business.

Most people get traffic by writing a lot of articles for their website and building links, and then convince their visitorss to sign up for something.

Since you have gotten 200 members without doing that (I'm assuming), it may be better for you to go in a different direction.

Yeah those 200 signups in 4 months for a new standalone rakeback skin is pretty impressive,I'd pay you $ for 50 signups a month.

Another thing that you've obviously noticed is volume of sign ups doesn't = $. I get alot of google sign ups every month and only about one in ten is worth having. Most of my quality rakers are referrals.

referrals are the key to the game; a happy customer refers his friend, because its a trustworthy site and he'll make a few % too.
