Default Greyed Out PR Bar Vs White PR Bar

    Hey Guys,

I know that a white PR bar is often synonymous with a penalty.

For a number of reasons a page will have its PR (not its teeth) "whitened" and lose its ability to pass value (because of a penalty, selling links, hundreds of do-follow comments that have been exploited by spammers etc....)

But I was checking one of my sites recently and noticed some of my internal pages had whited out bars. I never sold links. Other pages on my site have greyed out bars. My homepage PR is 2.

Effectively, any of these bars will yield a PR of 0.

But is there reason to be concerned on my end that a handful of internal pages have whited out bars ?

My site is 3 months old if that helps.

    Thanks

I think you are backwards on this - to me white is a legitimate Pr0 and grey is either new or penalized. When new sites go to white on new pages I feel good about it, when they stay grey I know something is wrong.

    Thanks for confirming this MJ.

Just had a chat with Nick and he said I had this backwards too.

    Cheers,

BTW, I thought it was the other way around because of 4flush that always had a white bar.

But I guess that was a manual edit from someone at Google and is an odd case.

I think the white bar at 4flush was considered an improvement as it used to be grey bar (this may have happened a long time ago too I don't follow it).

But yea, white = better than grey in a big way.
