    Default SEO Lottery?

I have a crazzy idea... And maybe this is completely retarded... But you tell me.

Suppose we have a lottery to help boost a PAL member's webpage on a single keyword, and every month, we make a draw and every participant must agree to post a link to the winner's page for 60 days.

Here's how I see it. First, you list in this thread pages you are willing to link from. The catch is that these pages are only pages you can get links to if you win the lottery. So if you want a link to your homapge, you have to register your homepage in the lottory. If your page doesn't win the lottery, it means you'll have to link to the winner from your homepage. This is to prevent asking links for solid hompages, but only offering crapy links in return.

Every page you submit to this lottery entitles you to one ballot. So if you list 10 pages, you get 10 lottery tickets. If you list 1 pages, you get 1 ticket, etc.

So once a month, we make a draw and a winner is selected. That winner chooses one of his lottery pages and posts the keywords he wants. everyone must then link to that page with that keyword from every single page they entered in the lottery. Furthermore, for maximum effect and fairness, everyone would have to provide an incontent text link - so only register pages where you can provide in content text link from.

What do you think? It's sort of an experiement at the same time to see how much influence we would collectively have over the google SERPs.

Discusss. If there is an interest to experiement, we'll setup something,

It's an interesting idea, it would probably be better to limit the number of sites you can submit though. I know you tried to solve the problem by the person that wins only gets links to the page they submitted, but honestly I have no problem submitting 100 subpages and getting one of them with a ton of links pointed to it. Other than that, it's a really interesting idea.

    Interesting.
Better if only one ticket is accepted per website

I would suggest a longer period. Links grow in value as time goes on and 60 days isn't a very long time in that regard. I know that would make the logistics of the lottery tougher to figure out but maybe we can at least do it as a one time thing or something.

So what if you HAVE to submit exactly 5 pages for the monthly lottery (not sites)? If we have 20 participants at 5 pages each, that's 95 links for the winner. Under this model, every participate gets one ticket (so every participant has one number). Then I would ask an independent trustworthy person like the J-man to run this random number generator to determine the winner.

On top of that, the winner could specify how they want those links broken down. This would be without being too picky, just by stating particpants 1-5 must link to my page 1, participants 5-15 link to my page 2, etc.

In terms of duration, if 60 days is too short, what would be appropriate?

Also, now that I think about, as the organiser of the lottery I htink this should be a 50/50 lotto where I get half the links! lol (just kidding).

Not really. I beleive in the honor system. Alternatively, the winner can be responsible to track their own links. If a participant is non-complient and does not provide links as per the established conditions, then they are banned from future lotteries.

Oh and While i was thinking, a Round Robin wouldn't be a bad idea either, I love this idea of PAL members bringing up PAL members, since we're a hot kewl secret society and all.
