Default Both sites in serps after a 301

Can someone help me here quick? Having a hell of a day on many sites.....

I recently rebranded PokerDeposits.org into PokerDeposits.net just because I had a full network and I felt it fit better. Probably should have left it alone but now both sites are showing in the serps:

    Google PokerDeposits.net

    Google PokerDeposits.org

Is this just a case of not enough time processed or did we do something wrong? (redirect took place 8 days ago)

I saw this happen with another member's site recently. I believe I saw this happening about 7-10 days after the redirects were put in place. I don't know if it just resolved naturally, but the older one disappeared after a few days.

Google will sort it out. When I did the 301 for my poker site, both domains showed for a couple days.

Thanks guys, I suspected this but wanted confirmation as I'm exploring redirects being a source of problems on another site.

Would you also agree that the same applies here? (one month ago redirect to plural - combining two sites both which didn't have very many pages)

Sorry for the hijack but how do you guys redirect the home page using wordpress? When I do 301 redirect / html.www.whatever it seems to break the redirect of the other pages is there a trick to it or do I not redirect the homepage?

I would think it would eventually get sorted, but with the non plural you had the www and the non www indexed which has made it more of a clusterfuck.

You could also request google to de-index the old pages in webmaster tools if you are concerned.

It takes awhile to sort out, but you can help it along by NOT linking to any new page, and continue to link to the corresponding OLD page. Only change the link after the old page disappears from the index.

It may take up to four months for the old URLs to drop out.

I might be missing the boat on this, why would you want to link to the OLD page instead of the new? This would be some good info to know, since I usually think to link to the new page to get that indexed quicker and get the old page out of there.
If you need Casino Reviews, I probably have the one(s) you're looking for.
