Default SEO impact of dropping certain poker sites

    Hi,

I have a site that discusses a bunch of different poker rooms. I let the site sit for a few months and then came back to it recently. I have a couple of programs that I would like to stop promoting. (I'm sure you can guess which ones)

The site is still somewhat new and only has like 50 pages of content. How much would it hurt me if I delete like 6 pages?

I would be tempted to leave them up, but there are a couple reasons why I would like to drop them:
    1. On principle
    2. Because it would look out of place to have these random couple of pages floating around out there when each of the other poker sites has multiple pages dedicated to them

Sorry if I didn't provide enough details - just ask if you'd like to know more.
Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward.

I was unaware that this matters at all. I cut about 30 pages from my one site; just made sure I deleted links pointing towards them.

Well, deleting content is never a fun thing to do. However, 6 pages of 50 shouldn't have a big impact on SEO unless you get all your visitors to those pages.

Why don't you just leave the content there and remove all links pointing to those pages.

Or you could just 301 them to your homepage.

I would 301 them to my homepage personally, not sure if that's the best advice though.

Or you might create a separate call to action page and 301 these pages there, it's a bit better than landing people to your homepage imo, but it majorly depends on what's your site primary aim tho.

As much as you may despise the rooms, if it was me i would just leave the pages up. I would eliminate internal linking to the pages, but why delete them altogether? it's like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I like pokeraffz's idea, redirect them to another call to action page.

I have the same problem at some of my sites....301 seems to be the best answer ...but I have also thinked about just change the pokerroom name and link to another site, and keep the indexed page up...

For exsample change the bwin/fullshit name and link to another (ongame) room, and keep the page up...off course you then have to do some moderation of the post regarding bonus, license, etc.
