How to boost a potential money page?

So you have an inner page that could be a nice money maker, but it's, let's say, #9 in the SERPs. You decide to boost the page by getting some links.

What would you do:
A - build links for the main page / anchor text = keywords that the main page targets
or
B - build links to the main page / anchor text = keywords that the inner page targets
or
C - build links to the inner page ?

What about a combination of all 3, where most will go to the inner page, a couple to home with inner page keywords, to make it look natural, and of course the regular links you're getting to your home page.

I would rather stick with working on the inner page but just tossing this out there (you could have done this already but if others read it, it could help them)

- you could make your page better first (more content and better interlinking). Yeah we all think our pages are good, but if you compare your page to the people above you - ask yourself what else could I do to improve mine. There's always room for improvement. Sometimes you'll get some pretty good ideas that the other guys have neglected or didn't think about

You will get the best results by getting links to the inner page.

What about set/track some different links on the money page ie. Find the phrases working for you and what ppl are clicking like: ( get x bonus) (play at x) etc leave it for a month see which one gets the most make that your anchor. I have been testing this on a site for a bit and the content links beat the image type of ones 2/1 > (click here/play this now to get it) type of links.. Id also go for C if it’s a decent page with the phrase/s getting clicks.

I think some of us are guilty of thinking about SEO too much. When you think about it, why would you want to get links to the homepage when the objective is to direct traffic to the money page? It doesn't make sense. (no offense intended) Just talking out loud

To me that's perfectly logical so I think test the money page pain in the ass setting up loads of different affiliate links

eg: a sale page
You have a sidebar for images sign up what not maybe 3 links at most
Content you have 400+words 5 links at most

I think making a test on that in the end you get to see what works use what you learned and your next sale page will be better, cut the crap out and end up with awesome money pages! <I started testing recently so its just me thinking out loud to!
