Default Im excited about a .ME -- Should I be?

Im excited because i just picked up an exact match dropped domain -- playpokeronline.me.

I've always thought my dream domain would be playpokeronline.com because its one of those domains that you can legitimately do what many people try to do with specific topic domains anyways -- write novice poker guides and rank poker sites...while having an excellent chance of ranking high for good converting terms.

Anyways, the .me has been around for a while and is a TLD and i've seen many exact match ones out rank .coms recently. Also, i feel like in this particular instance the .me works and is brandable with the phrase...and then theres freedom to do a wide variety of fun stuff on it as well.

I would love to here some thoughts and suggestions about the domain, I'm thinking about going balls to the wall with this domain in terms of putting alot of effort into organizing a well designed beginner online poker guide. I think i just want to have fun with a domain like i did when i started out with aintluck.com.

I wouldn't get too excited. Your competition spends alot of money for this phrase (Stars, FTP, PokerListings, and a forum member here who owns an exact match- I'm not going to name). You say you have seen .me domains doing well, but I haven't seen it alot (with a couple of exceptions).

Typically I hate telling someone the competition is too great, because the more competition the greater reward if you get there. But in this case, with a .me, I would advise against it. And have you seen .me domains performing well in yahoo/bing?

One personal experience with a site i setup for fun a while back - THE Shit Is Me - I Am THE Shit... leads me to believe .mes are even better in bing and yahoo as an exact match...(site gets around 20-30 hits a day from yahoo and bing but none from google) and i know the member who has another playpokeronline exact match...I almost designed his site for him ....

im fairly sure .me is a TLD as well as a ccTLD. Montenegro did some deal because of the potential marketability of the extension that alot of people havn't taken a chance on

I realized its a ridiculously competitive term, but thats where alot of the fun is for me i guess

Thanks, I made another one no one is using at the moment. I don't quite understand your exact match statement though. Of course theres alot of seo work to be done and patience to be had, thats true with any competitive terms. But my understanding is that exact match tlds even if .com has an illeged advantage...gives you an edge for the phrases you're targeting.

The main question is figuring out if .me is as good in google as a .net or .org is. It appears only a handful of sites on the web have picked up and ran with a .me extension site, such as cssstyle.me and flavors.me, bobparsons.me...and thats about all i've seen so far. I'm sure theres more, i definitely havn't seen a gambling related .me with a developed site yet.
