As for prices, they are absolutely reasonable and correspond to the expenses on each request processing.
If you'd offer standard link analysis through your toolbar, showing anchors etc. for $10 instead of $50 monthly I'm sure you'll immediately reach lots of webmasters that are used to Yahoo's site explorer that is gone now.
I'm a subscriber but just because I hope that you'll add plenty of new features soon and I don't like OSE

Ahrefs.com really differs from other similar resources. It uses absolutely different index, built using alternate technologies.
Besides, there are some peculiarities of inner organization which make it stand our from the herd:
    1. Flow Rating. The main idea is that this rating takes into account not only index numbers, like number of referring domains/pages, but also the quality of pages themselves. That is, links from the first page of some well-known resource will considerably improve rating of the page instead of adding +1 to the links number.
    2. We take into account SERPs while calculating the rating -> high ahrefs rating is the indicator of high page relevance.
    3. Almost real time. Index is updated every 30 minutes. You may easily check it yourself if you take a fresh article from a large news site and try to find links pointing to it. Ahrefs.com is likely to be the only one to show these links. In any case, this is true for BBC and CNN.

These are the most important items, our development team is constantly working to introduce more new technical ideas to the issue of search analysis.

So far we cannot offer cheaper pricing plans, because supporting of such a large database is rather costly. As for the toolbar, we'll consider this idea.
