    Lightbulb Which one is better ?

    Which one is better ?
    Hi All;

    For 301 permanent redirection of a domain, which method is most efficient and why ?

    # via htaccess ?
    # via dns record change ?

    Thanks for your contribution

    Personally I would go through htaccess as it is the only way I know how to do it. I know for sure that this method is safe. I can not vouch for the other method.

    Well from my side, htaccess is better than going to do changes in dns setup..

    .htaccess is easier but there is no real downside to changing the DNS either. If you're unfamiliar with it I would probably go with .htaccess. Quick and easy, especially to update should anything go wrong. However if you are using two different hosts you can always get rid of one if you change the DNS instead.

    I've never heard of any other method besides .htaccess. I'm going to have to say .htaccess based on its popularity, and the fact that it works very well. I've done a 301 redirect with .htaccess, and it worked perfectly.
