Default Can long domain names rank?

I am considering registering a really long domain name, I am talking 30 characters or more.

Does anyone have experience with getting really long domain names to rank?

Basically wanting to find out if this would be considered a spammy signal that could be detrimental to rankings.

Yes, they do rank, it doesn't seem to make a difference atm. Although in the new Panda age with more focus on branding, CTR, etc, I would shy away from it if I was planning in investing a lot in the site. Still fine for a mini site though imo.

It will probably help you to rank better, keywords in domain names are a good ranking factor. I recommend not using anymore than 4 or 5 words, and I think non-hyphenated is best.

^ True, a really long hyphenated domain name looks super spammy, less so when non-hyphenated.

Holy crap dude, you have some nice generic gambling domains.

You can find a success story for just about any scenario, such as this query. Your mileage may vary.

He could just be renting out his sig, wouldn't be the first on this site.

Nah he owns them, but he was previously posting using a different name i think. As for the question, the longer a domain gets, the worse it is imo and I believe that Google gives less of an exact match boost to longer domain names, as i think it makes sense that they are less likely to be brands.

Tbh I am not really getting it for the EMD benefits. It seems worthwhile to get the domain name because it contains two keyword phrases in the name that I can target that get decent searches, and the domain name makes sense.
