Does Google Parse and Count URL Anchors ?

This question was asked years ago at an SEO conference. The answer boiled down to something like, "We'll give it our best shot".

Sorry, but what does this mean exactly ? Or were they making a joke.

Seabastian, I think it means they have implemented code to try to figure out if a long string of letters is a run-on expression and, if they can reasonably infer so with confidence, they will try to treat that long string of letters as 2 or more words. But they made no commitments to getting it right.
