Default Google Update - Impacts more searches than Panda

Google Search Algorithm Change For Freshness To Impact 35% Of Searches; Twitter Firehose Remains Off

    Good article.

    Of particular use for affiliates:

Frequent updates. There are also searches for information that changes often, but isnít really a hot topic or a recurring event. For example, if youíre researching the [best slr cameras], or youíre in the market for a new car and want [subaru impreza reviews], you probably want the most up to date information.

Weird, I thought they were already doing this, and had been for years.

I believe what's happened is they've dramatically increased the amount of queries the freshness factor impacts.

Like Caffeine, big deal about something that does nothing. I have sites that haven't even been indexed despite having pages up for weeks along with sitemaps, and a link or two. If they can't even index a new site or index new pages on already indexed sites, it's still pretty dumb.

I like this move by Google, and it makes complete sense. The Internet should be about fresh and relevant content. I think this will be a big ranking factor in the near future, especially for websites that never update.

For something that was supposed to effect 35% of searches I haven't noticed any major shifts yet.

I like this too, if it works, more often than not I use the 'results within the past year / month' for personal searches.

There is a big difference between 35% of queries and 35% of searches....
