Default Site with a lot of duplicate content

There is an EMD I am looking at getting, the problem is that its a developed website with a significant percentage of dup content.

Given what's happened with the panda update in targeting what's considered to be low quality pages and duplicate content, would it be foolish to acquire the domain name?

Depends on price - if he is looking at 24 months income+ and income is significant then yes. If most of the value is in the domain then you aren't taking too much of a risk.

I am hearing more and more (on affiliate forum and videos) that duplicate content is not such a big deal in the eyes of G.
Looking at the 'poker site review' keywords articles across all poker affiliates it is somehow true?

I mean how many 'PartyPoker Review' are out there? they cannot all be 'THAT' different.
Also G made this update boosting 'more recent' content although they are aware of publishers/affiliates taking advantage of G News, this opens the door even wider to more duplicate content IMO

    Am I completly wrong?

By duplicate content, I meant in the literal sense, an exact duplicate of the article.

The plan would be to remove the majority of the content straight away, but if its been hit by panda, I am wondering if its even worth it.

Panda is an update that seems to have left affiliates across the board that have been placed under penalty, with nothing.

I work within the SEO industry and the recovery from such a penalty, should your thoughts be right that the site is a majority of duplicate content and the site be actually under the penalty in the first place, is not going to be an easy task.

Simply deleting content from the site is not going to lift any form of penalty when it comes to a site that is heavily involved with Panda and could result in the domain failing to rank for any worthwhile terms for a good length of time.

Personally unless the domains is Poker.com or Insurance.com, i would avoid it.

But then again most of us are gamblers here and that could mean that you may want to make this work to your advantage and acquire the site/domain on a cheaper budget.

Actually, that would probably be sufficient to resolve a Panda issue. Most of the people who have NOT recovered from Panda appear to have refrained from deleting content from their sites. Many have NoIndexed it. Others have been rather vague about what they have done.

Panda judged the pages. If the pages go away, you sort of start over with a clean slate.
