Default Need Advice on SEO for Creating Mobile Site

    Hi,

A lot of traffic to a few of my sites are from mobile platforms, so I've commission someone to design and code a new mobile-friendly theme for my site which all mobile users will be re-directed to (regular theme will stay the same for PC users).

I need help understanding the SEO consequences for this and the best way to set it up.

For example, if I use the same content but on the mobile theme, then I'm effectively creating duplicate content on the mobile version of my site.

I'll probably buy new content for the mobile version of my site (it's only going to be like 10-15 pages), but I still don't understand how the sitemap needs to be constructed. For example, do I put the mobile site on m.casinoxxx.com or something like casinoxxx.com/mobile/pages.

A friend told me something along the lines that a seperate mobile site would mess up the XTML sitemap too but I just don't understand it all...

Seems more or less like the issue with printer-friendly versions of content. You could also use a solution based in CSS as described here:

That's probably a better answer just because there's no other way to develop one mobile version that will work consistently across all devices.

I don't remember the name of the script or site, but I do remember seeing a site that allows you to create a mobile friendly version of your site, which basically just detects mobile users and converts the existing elements on your site to mobile friendly. Seems like it was Greg P that posted it, I'll looks through my notes and find it. IIRC, you don't have to create a whole new mobile version just to display properly, unless you code is really old and messy.

ye, sorry, this thread is old. I found a good script (dudamobile.com) above. This is probably what you were talking about Randy.

Yeah not positive that is the exact site, I'm sure there are a ton of solutions now that Ipads are the thing. But yeah same concept - We are running some type of similar plugin on a non-gaming site where we get 15%+ mobile traffic

There are a couple of WP plugins that turn your site mobile friendly when visitors are using a mobile device. These sites don't look pretty at all but there's not a lot you can do for mobile sites I think.

Today mobile internet users are equivalent to computer internet user. If you want to create a mobile site and display it on the top of the search engine result, same you can also needed SEO. But you must focus on the small things while creating this site because a mobile site is display in a small screen and users are shows from the different angles, create something new for user, it can must focus on it and visit at once. Use different SEO techniques to increase traffic on your site.
