He deserved a banning. Everything about him screamed potential scam (and I speak from a pretty deep experience of dealing with online poker fraudsters).

There's the letter of the rules and the spirit of the rules, and the way he handled himself on the forums in his brief time here seemed to definitely violate the spirit.

I have plenty of respect for how RE handles their business, I just disagree here. You get 30 posts by contributing useful posts to ongoing discussions, not by bumping 30 months/years-old threads with semi-nonsense responses within two hours. Those sorts of shortcuts are red flags for me, personally.

Tim I understand what you are saying, but in this case it was a 100% a spammer, and possibly a scammer. I asked the other night to have him banned after he bumped old posts with useless drivel. If someone comes to participate that is of course fine, but that wasn't the case here.

And COPCapo spare us the bs please. You should know better than anyone the OP was a spammer. Go bump some more threads to shill your favorite Merge site.

Anyone who starts a thread with a stupid question like "what is a backlink" is definitely a spammer lol How could this person have made a website and not know what a backlink is? Makes absolutely no sense. I think it was a great move to ban this person. PAL is one of the highest quality forums on the Internet, and it can't remain high quality if people like that are allowed to post silly threads.

I can't believe this is even a discussion. Tim you are way off the mark. This wasn't about flaming a new member of course we all start somewhere. Honestly if you didn't see the bad intentions of this guy you're an idiot. Why he was inflating his post count is uncertain although it's my personal opinion he was trying to scam. What tilted me even more was to increase his post count he made a post in a thread where I was chasing payment and gives me some stick. I mean how low can someone be?

Clearly you're in the minority here. If you want to defend this guy put your money where your mouth is instead of potentially getting another PAL member scammed. Even if he wasn't out to scam he was definitely spamming the forum, why should that be allowed? Your logic is flawed when you say forums should encourage active members. It's about the quality of the discussion, not how many posts members make.

please dont call me an idiot, i think i've done enough in this industry over the past 9 years to deserve my reputation and trustworthiness and dont appreciate someone slagging off at me. more to the point we're all entitled to our own opinions (whether they might be judged to be right or wrong). of course if i was to do any business with a new member i would indeed do my due diligence first. i honestly dont know how that makes me an idiot.

i dont mind if i am, but i'm still entitled to my own opinion and ways of doing business; its also up to each member to do their own research before doing business with someone (new or old).

the thing is though, yes it may look like someone is trying to increase their post count to some arbitrary number of posts, so they can do something in the forum. if this fourm is all about quality, then like another forum i post on, you need to be recommended to be a "senior member" which is based on the quality of your posts rather than your post count. if PAL were to implement this type of quality control, which needs existing senior members to recommend someone, then i believe it would further increase the overall quality of postings on the forum.

so in a perfect world, if a new members writes 1 post which is high quality and promotes discussion and debate, then that would be enough for someone to recommend the new person to be a senior memeber. if someone writes 50 posts of crap, then no one will recommend them to become a senior member. i think this method would work very well.

i was brought up that you are innocent until proven guilty, but it seems on PAL some senior members would prefer to shoot first and ask questions later...

I looked in the Forum and found both threads, asking or telling about a room and a merge room... honestly i didnt look how old the thread was.
so i wrote at both similar the same and gave the one who asked my opinion. If its now spamming, bumping whatever to tell members, who never dealt with them before or asking how the business is with them, its fine to go there and there to be able to have a good business relation ship ... than yes im guilty here.

im not earning from this , if than yes it would be spam ... sorry you maybe dont want to share with other affiliates where its worth to work with...I do and will keep doing it, doesnt matter how old the Post is.
