Your SEO Process + Organisation

Hey Guys,

I am hoping you can give me some insight into your SEO process or more so how you organise it. I have met a lot of people in our industry and I typically find 50 percent have a very scientific approach to it with keyword maps/spread sheets and check lists.

Others have a much more abstract approach where they do keyword research etc but their process is a lot more in their heads and they do what "feels" right rather than work off a checklist.

If your creating a site how do you organise it?

Spreadsheets, the answer is almost always spreadsheets.

I used to use spreadsheets but when you get into the thousands of keywords the spreadsheets become pretty useless. Some people devise complicated opportunity discovery processes based on the spreadsheets.

I focus on topics rather than keywords. A single topic may be associated with dozens of keywords. I find it's more efficient to look at how well I am performing in a topic. I can evaluate new topics better than I can evaluate new keywords.

I use Smartsheet to manage all sorts of aspects of my business. It's extremely flexible and does pretty much everything I need when it comes to organization, tasks, collaboration ect... As they put it it's a spreadsheet on steroids.
