    Default HP ranking, Inners Not...

I am pretty sure I remember a few people talking about this happening with their sites as well...

One of my sites seemed to have lost any rankings for inner pages, and only the homepage is still ranking and bringing in traffic.

Has anyone had this problem, and was their any fix that helped you get things back to normal? Getting links to inner pages? Producing more content?

    Thanks for the help

You ask, but you already know...

Getting links to inner pages? Producing more content?
I think that would be my approach. That and patience.

Those are my thoughts, but just wanted to see if any one has had the same experience and done something that worked (or didn't work)

I have this problem now with one of my sites. It ranks 1st page for main keyword but none of the inner pages rank or bring in traffic (this is a site with 70+ pages btw).

What's very strange is that a few of my other websites all rank well above the penalised website I'm talking about which is highly targeted towards the keywords I'm searching for. I think this happened to me in the past for an aged site and I just added more quality links, kept adding pages and over time it came back, sort of like a homepage sandbox (where the homepage is the only page that ranks).

Or it could just be a strange glitch/dance in Google which lasts a month or two...

I also found an old PAL thread I created about a site where the homepage still ranked but all inner pages had a penalty: http://www.pokeraffiliatelistings.co...e-penalty.html

This site actually came back after around 3 months without me really doing anything. Virtually the same thing (3 month sandbox) had also happened to another similar site I built - I literally timed when the site should re-appear in the SERPS and got it spot on to the nearest week.

Cool, yeah it has only been about a week since the inner pages stopped ranking so I am going to wait it out. Keep posting content when I can and maybe throw a few links to inner pages.

I am guessing it will be back and strong within a month or two at the latest. I'll update this thread when it's back.

Sometimes an algorithmic tweak causes this behavior and then it flips back with another algorithmic tweak. The frustrating thing about this stuff is that if you don't figure out what lead to the downgrade of the inner pages in the first place it can happen again.

Generally speaking, publishing more rich content and obtaining more links from diverse resources helps stabilize Websites.
