Default Just added Google +1 button to a site - Good or bad idea?

Never rushed to do this because I think FB is significantly more important then Google +1 right now (obviously can't say that for sure since I have no experience with G+1 but it's just common sense imo).

Anyway, I got around to adding the button to one of my sites.

But it got me thinking. Do I really want to encourage users to get a Google account considering G users who are logged in are no longer sending keyword referral data in analytics, which in effect is shooting SEO's in the foot. For some of my sites, the (not set) keyword data is significant.

    Discuss.

    Very Good Idea....

Google now has custom searches so if they in your circle you pop up to top area if a friend recommended site.

Yeah as far as I'm concerned you can't miss it on a reputable site. They say that these days it's imperative to have a google plus page as well for your website as it helps your serps etc. In the end it's a bit up in the air what is going to help you, but personally I like to have it on there so they can appreciate the site through the social network they find easiest and use frequently.

I've added it because I am not getting a lot of G+1 shares even though it's a fairly high traffic site (I guess that's mostly to do with not making it easy to share the content).

But the slower page loads and the insignificance it's likely having on universal search at this point in time makes me question if it's even worth it.

I always see the same, hardly anyone is sharing through google plus. I don't see that much value in adding it, but I don't see the value in not adding it either.

Given that it's likely to be a signal if it isn't already, I'd say the pros outweigh the cons.

Most people who would use the +1 are already logged in, so I don't think you're adding to your anonymous search totals by having the button.

Well that's a fairly basic way of looking at it when you consider there are hundreds of factors that determine the search results.

The problem is I really doubt that lots of people will click on it unless you have some terrific content that needs some buzz (like Full Tilt is offline...).

    It's a fairly basic question.
