    Default Using Iframe Signup Pages

I notice from time to time affiliate sites are using Iframes within an article to get guest to join sites. Do you think its a great idea to offer such a feature for signup pages ? I would assume the signup ratio would be much higher although I admit I'm a bit unfamiliar with the consequences seo wise. Is it a safe method or will one lose ranking for doing so ?

    regards

iframes are pretty common, i'd be very surprised if there was a negative consequence of using them as described.

You don't want to include iframe pages such as this on pages you're trying to make rank. However, if you're redirect files are simply files with iframes in them with like a bonus code information div on top...and the files are nofollowed and disallowed in robots.txt, theres no reason this would be any different than the common standard redirection of your affiliate links.

One issue to worry about is that this is a common way of affiliate tracker cookie stuffing. Some programs in other areas such as cJ, have preventive methods to recognize this behavior and not count this type of tracking. Im not sure if any rooms have done anything to stop this type of cookie stuffing, but they may...particularly bigger brands...

I have a couple of websites (non-poker) where I use an affiliate program's iFrames as my main marketing material. I do not see any negative influences, the sites all rank pretty well for their keywords.

The content of any IFrame does not get read by Google. As far as I know Google can only spot the dimensions of an IFrame (useful to know if you're stuffing real content below the fold) and the SRC of that IFrame which I believe will pass some link juice.

Google does crawl iFrames. I confirmed that in December with an experiment I performed over at HighRankings' forums.

If you don't want an iFramed page indexed, make sure you include a robots meta directive on the page that says "NoIndex,NoFollow".

I think we may have crossed wires.

I was referring to an instance where I embed an IFrame on a page on my own website. In this instance Google will not crawl or index the content within the IFrame on my website. It will however follow the SRC= to the original source of the IFrame and crawl that page - so yes, if you don't want the page that is being 'IFramed' to be indexed then use <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOFOLLOW,NOINDEX" /> in your header.

From an SEO point of view, embedding an IFrame on your own webpage will just appear as an effective blank spot on the page... Similar value (positive or negative) of embedding SWFs.
